Yeah, I also gained 4 pounds since last week (1 pound is more typical) but my last 3 appointments have also been morning appointments and yesterday was a 4 p.m. appointment so it's hard to compare since I had so much more to eat than is typical before appointments. She didn't mention my weight as a concern at all though.

Anxiety and stress can also increase your blood pressure!

I've already got the pitting edema at 28 weeks, ugh, swelling.

I've had some worries over pre-e, too, so I'll just pass on what my OB has told me. He said that swelling in the feet and legs is not as indicative to pre-e as swelling in the hands or face. Since my BP has been under the acceptable limits when I am laying down and I haven't had protein in my urine on the office checks, he hasn't ordered a 24-hour catch or anything else. It kind of makes me nervous, but I'm just trying to keep my cool since he seems confident.

I also had tremendous swelling (just like @RachieCakes described), but my bp would be just low enough to keep everyone happy. In fact, I gained 8 pounds (of pure fluid) from week 38 to 39, which really made my OB nervous. Ultimately, I was induced at 39 weeks due to super low amniotic fluid (and a couple of other things). It took almost a month for the swelling to go away (although I had other complications during delivery that prolonged the fluid retention) and for me to get my ankles back!

@ladyfingers: On top of tremendous swelling (the kind you could press dents into) I had symptoms come and go, including protein in urine, low platelets, high blood pressure. At my 37 week appointment they sent me directly to L&D and said I would probably deliver via csection that day. I was observed for 24 hours and was released because my blood pressure would come down when I was at rest. I did the 24hour urine test and they were pleased with the results but I was on very strict bed rest with bi-weekly BPPs and NSTs. I was finally induced at 40w1d, they felt at that time it was better to deliver sooner rather than later.
Keep an eye on your symptoms and try to rest as much as possible. For me I was able to carry to 40w with rest.

My feet have been fairly swollen on and off throughout my pregnant. I try to elevate and I drink so much water -- at least 80 ounces a day. At my 36-week appointment yesterday, the midwife took one look at my feet and was like, wow. They're not so large that they hurt, but they have been pretty evidently swollen the last couple of days.

My BP when I got to the office was 125/84, so she had them retake it before I left, and it was 117/78ish and that was good enough for them to just let me go home. I had no protein in my urine, no headaches, no swelling elsewhere (feet, hands, face). I've had some dizzy spells which she said can be normal, and occasional spots that I told her about, which typically occur when I'm already dizzy or bend over. I had a biophysical profile ultrasound (I have GD) and the baby was perfect, he's been moving normally, etc.

But now I'm kind of freaking out because I keep hearing people say, oh yeah, I had no other signs either/only one symptom but I had HELLP/pre-e. She didn't suggest doing a 24-hour urine test, just seemed satisfied that my second BP was lower.

So... what should I do? I've been elevating today and it's helping a bit, they're swollen but not as bad as yesterday. I'm trying to up my water intake even more. Should I demand a 24-hour urine collection test? Or just calm down and trust them? I'm so nervous now that something is lurking, and don't know what to do.
