@MrsHansen82: i just used a Fleet enema-they sell them everywhere. I thought it was a little crazy and paranoid for me but the pitocin caused diarrhea and I was really glad I didn't have full bowels because laboring and being stuck on the toilet at the same time was one of the most uncomfortably painful experiences EVER.

Things no one tells you, amiright? ;)

Erm, I did an enema to empty my bowels before I went in....TMI, I know. But those meds have intense GI effects lol!

Thanks ladies, I keep feeling like I'm not ready, but I know I'm as ready as I'll ever be. I guess it's just the fear of the unknown.

My induction started at around 6pm and the first thing I did was order and eat a nice meal. I really couldn't eat once contractions started and I know I wouldn't have had good energy had I not done that. So have a meal. Another thing is to watch your energy in general. Don't spend too much of it too soon or you won't have energy to push and they will have to do a c section. So save it. Third is pay attention to you body. If you are really tense and have been at it for hours without the epidural and just son seem to be progressing the epidural might be what you need in order to rest. I did 11 hours but finally I just needed to sleep and in my case I think the rest is what helped me to dilate and again have energy to push when it was time. It could take a while so just try not to spend too much of yourself hoping for that 6-12 hour birth. It's great if you get that, and you may but you want to make sure you have energy for push time and don't stress your body too much. I'm very excited for you and I hope things happen quickly and smoothly!!! Who knows you could still go into labor on your own too! Good luck!

@MrsHansen82: @Mrs. Blue: I was induced at 40+ 3 on a Tuesday at 2am given 1/2 of pill (cytotec?), then 6am other half of pill. Only dialated to 2cm since being admitted. By 10am started on pitocin. I was only dialated to 2 cm for the whole day. I was worried that my body wasn't doing what it was supposed to do, but just keep going on.

Around noon, I got to eat some soup, ice, and jello. Which was totally needed and I asked for because I was starting to feel faint. If you need food or something to drink, Ask For It!!

Watched TV, did Internet, basic stuff. People kept texting me to see if the baby was here yet, and it got to the point that it wasn't happening and I was getting annoyed by the questions and well wishes. At a point I stopped looking at the phone or responding.

By 5:30pm water broke naturally after going to the restroom. and then the contractions really started up! I got the epi at 6pm. Every hour the nurse would come in and check me and if no change in monitoring I could press the epi button again! Which was sweet!'

By 8pm the nurse came in and asked me to lay on left side, to get baby moving down the birth canal. At 8:30pm nurse came in again was going to ask me to move to right side, but couldn't find heart beat...put oxygen mask on and it turns out baby had dropped all the way and I was fully dilated at 10 and ready to go!

So active labor was 3 hours which I didn't really feel because of the epi! At 9:02pm she was born vaginally and perfectly healthy! I did 6 pushes and she was out! It was the best induction and birth I ever could have imagined!!

Think positive, rest and relax and know that your baby will arrive when they are supposed to! Hugs and

I was anxious, too, before my induction date with the boys. I agree to just do fun things for you in this little window of time you have left. You can really only do so much to prepare for labor or being a mommy, and you've already gotten that stuff done. Just try to get as much rest as you can (easier said than done, I know) and do things you enjoy that will take your mind off everything a little bit. :-)

As for the actual induction, just remember that there are tons of very positive induction stories, and try not to focus on the negative ones. Things can go awry in any type of delivery, but your body is ready to do this and hopefully, you'll have a great induction experience. I'm so excited for you to get to that first moment you hear your baby cry, see that sweet face, and the indescribable way you are forever changed in those moments. Right before my c-section, I told DH I didn't want to do this and I wasn't ready to be a mom, but when they were born...holy wow, there's nothing like that. Keep the end in mind! This is all temporary and for good cause! Sending you a million wishes for good luck and peace through the process.

@MrsHansen82: Do something for yourself with your last little bit of time. Take a long shower (I treasured shower time like gold in the newborn days), see a movie, go to dinner with DH. I was induced at 40+6 and everything went fine. Knowing there was an end date sort of helped me savor those last days even though I was beyond anxious to meet baby. Good luck!

I'm scheduled for an induction on Monday and you could say I'm kinda freaking out. I'm nervous about the whole process of being given drugs to start labor and just about becoming a parent in general. Is there anything I should do to prepare whether it's mentally or physically in the next two days? I've packed my bags, cleaned the house and stocked up on food. So I guess we have all the basics ready, anything else?
