I definitely wish I could stay with home with my baby atleast 3-6 months, before taking her to a daycare, but it looks like she will be headed to the daycare as early as 8 weeks old. It breaks my heart thinking about it but its got to be done.

Thanks for the replies ladies. We are in the same boat as most Americans. Working as hard as we can to stay afloat!

We are both still trying to build careers right now so staying home isn't an option. She really does love daycare

Totally get it. If I didn't have to work or if DH didn't have to work, one of us would totally stay home. Unfortunately today it's harder and harder to stay afloat if you have just one parent working (unless they make the big bucks). Yes, if my husband made our combined salaries (or if I did) one of us could stay home. We don't, so we just deal with it. We have the guilt of not being able to offer our LO a sibling because we want to provide the best life possible for her.

@Nskillet: I think this is really normal! I have some of it too - I work a lot of hours and am already really worried about balancing work and mommyhood. My mom is going to watch LO one day a week (and I'm cutting back to 4 days a week) but LO will be in day care 3 days. I sometimes wish it could be different (and wish we could afford a nanny....) but for now, it's the best that we can do. Try not to beat yourself up and know that many of us feel the same way!

After speaking with a co worker about her maternity leave plans I have some pre-mommy guilt about our daycare decision. It really isn't an option as we need both of our incomes to make things work I guess I'm just a little sad about it today.

Anyone else in this boat?
