Dh and I would have liked a few years togther as a married couple but we had,to get our skates on if we were to have kids at all.</p> <p>Can I just say on the travel thing -do it now! I love travel and have spent the last 15 years seeing the world. We did an OS trip to the US with LO late last year. It was wonderful, exciting, exhausting, logistically challenging! You can do it but it is a compromise and you won't get to see as much as you would without kids. And that's ok. So we did both and then started a family. I feel like I make a better partner and will make a better parent the more secure and personally fulfilled I am, and the more interesting I am. So, that meant waiting until I was educationally stable (long finished with college and beyond), financially stable in a career with savings, owning a home, and just personally stable with a strong relationship and having accomplished personal goals.</p> <p>I have too many acquaintances and friends that said “I’ll travel after kids!” or “I’ll go back to school after kids!” and none of them really have. I've already traveled a decent amount, so I focused my efforts on cooking. Bleargh. Hookah is OK, though, as a social event.) </p>
