My son is 2.5 and started going to daycare in July (he was just over 2 years old). We started with part time (5 days a week/half days) and just recently started sending him full time. He LOVES it. I'm sure your LO will love it too. If you don't feel comfortable sending full time right away, part time would work too. By the time I sent him full time, he was already used to the teachers and his friends so it wasn't a hard transition for him.

I think he will adjust quickly as long as their nap situation matches his (I have seen some programs that really only offer 30 minutes for nap which isn't enough for most 2.5 year olds.) One option is part time until holiday break and then switch to full time. It seems like a pretty common thing with the preschools I am familiar with.

I think he'll be fine with full time if that is what you choose. My daughter has been in full time daycare since 6 months so I can't say for her. But she's also 2.5 yo now and I've seen kids start full time recently with no issues. They are still young enough to adjust very quickly.

At that age I would start them off as part time for maybe thef irst few days and then pick them up an hour later each day.. My baby started daycare fulltime at 12 weeks but at that age she was so young so she didnt know the difference

We plan on sending LO to preschool when she is about 3 but will only send her a maximum of 3 days a week, which are about 2.5 hours a day.

I'll be enrolling my son in daycare/preschool in the fall of 2013. We're still debating on whether to enroll him full-time (5 days a week) or part-time (2-3 days a week). Since he'll only be 2.5 years old, I'm not sure if he's ready to be away everyday. I'm sure he'll get used to it, and probably enjoy all the playtime, but right now, he keeps looking for me and yells "mama" if I'm away for a few minutes. So I'm wondering if I should ease him into school.

How did your child adjust to starting school/daycare?
