@reverie: I was worried about it. To be honest, I ate pizza for dinner so clearly I'm not sticking to low carb to well.

I"m not a doctor, but from my research (internet research) it appears that low carb (like keto) levels might not be the best. I currently low carb to lose weight, if I get pregnant again I think I'll switch to a gestation diabetes diet and aim for 50-100gm carbs a day.

I was diagnosed with insulin resistant PCOS during my IF journey and was taking metformin. RE said there is a risk of me developing diabetes later in life. I was worried about developing GD because of PCOS. I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and was told that just because I have insulin resistant PCOS that it doesn't necessarily mean I'll develop GD. I should ask my OB and see what her response is.

Oh, found this thread. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/pcos-and-gestational-diabetes

@FancyGem: @Mamasig: @avivoca: thanks! I think my issues are based purely on lack of knowledge and the unknown.

You know that I had GD with my last pregnancy and I was also classified as on the threshold of pre-diabetic in my early 20's. Let me know if you have any questions! If the endo wants you to follow a GD diet, it's fairly easy and will help control your weight gain. In fact, I lost about 10 pounds in a month when I was on the diet and ended up gaining about 35 pounds overall.

I had GD and now am insulin resistant. My GD was controlled with diet. Good luck! If you aren't used to running, I wouldn't start now. But double check with your doctor.

I know a few women who were diabetic before they were pregnant. They did fine. One lady is currently pregnant and she has to make sure she eats small meals throughout the day to keep her sugar levels balanced, but she is doing well. Congrats and Good Luck!

I have PCOS and was recently diagnosed as insulin resistant and prediabetic. I just started a low carb diet, C25k and metformin. I lost a couple pounds in the first week (which is much needed). I was surprised (but so happy) to find out that I'm pregnant. After IF for our first child this couldn't be more welcome

I'm still concerned about my weight and my sugar levels. I see a endo that specializes in pregnancy next week but I was wondering if anyone has been in my shoes or has any tips? I'm going to walk instead of run and stick with the metformin until I see my doctor.
