Awww, you should tell Etsy doll clothes makers that your sweet little baby is wearing the clothes, I bet that would make them happy!

I've spent a small fortune this week on doll clothes. I'm not even mad. So far the carters preemie clothes fit the best but event those are sometimes too baggy.

I just looked back at some of my stuff, and I was wrong! It was the Gymboree (up to 5 lbs) that fit with the Carter's preemie stuff. Then, we switched to Gap up to 7.

@psw27: wow 5.5 lbs for 34 weeks is a great size! I do love the gap sleepers, they're so soft and quality is so nice compared to other brands. Which I guess doesn't matter a ton in the long run since they're only in them for a few weeks :silly: but I love them!

@Mrs. Pen: That makes sense, because the gap stuff didn't fit until they outgrew the Carter's preemies, but I felt like the gap up to 7 lbs was skinnier than most of the other newborn size brands we had, so they fit before newborn in most brands.

@Mrs. Pen: Wow that's interesting! I didn't use a whole lot of true "preemie" stuff because my 34 weeker was 5.5 lbs so the up to 7 lbs were a little big but not bad. Definitely a little baggy in the legs since his legs were little chicken wings at first. I can still picture his little baby gap sleeper when we brought him home finally!

@psw27: @anonysquire: I don't think the up to 7 lbs size is actually preemie, more like new born.
My 7lb newborn was still small in that size.
For comparison, the white sleeper is gap up to 7 lbs and the blue one is the newborn babies r us brand sleeper.
The onesie is a preemie onesie (that actually fit my son when he was a newborn), and you can see it is a bit smaller.

Carters (I know it's standard and not super exciting) fit my 4 pounder best. Followed by BabyGap up to 7 lbs. I agree that it's way too hard to find preemie clothes. Even though I got tired of the same few clothes over and over, I get all the feels when I see the twins' preemie clothes now. They're the only clothes that I just cannot bring myself to get rid of.

If you like pima/smocked clothes (sleepers, gowns, etc), Magnolia Baby has a pretty extensive preemie selection and they're easy to find online. They have it on Amazon but I also recently came across Liam & Lilly which has a huge selection (and you can get a coupon code for signing up for emails, bc their stuff is pricey!): https://liamandlilly.com/collections/preemie-baby-clothes-magnolia-baby/gender_boy+cf-size-preemie

Last thing! :)

Just did a quick eBay search per my previous suggestion and apparently Gymboree also does preemie - but FWIW I think their toddler clothes are REALLY wide - haven't bought baby things.

@anonysquire: Yeah, the pjs have the velcro to make them NICU friendly I suppose, and I agree that the velcro was weird!!!
But maybe give the bodysuits a go if there's a pattern I like...after I washed mine on hot, they shrunk up to a little bit better fit. It's completely different than the old Circo brand, which I found to be ridiculously short and wide.

One more idea - if you're open to lightly used clothes, you might be able to snag a bag from another local preemie mama whose baby has outgrown them. I also went this route, and while it was still all Carter's stuff, she had items from different seasons/years, so it upped the variety a little bit.

@gingerbebe: @PinkElephant: ok, I wasn't impressed with the cat and Jack preemie things. They are wide and baggy. And it could just be that my son is too skinny. But they Velcro-Ed weird and left weird gaps everywhere and just didn't fit well. :/

The Cat & Jack line at Target has sleep 'n' plays, baby pants, and onesies that are mix & match in Preemie size (not Newborn, actual Preemie). I know it's not true "outfits", but I think a lot of the patterns are more sophisticated (geometric and modern) than other preemie clothes. I just checked online to give you a link and didn't see much in the boys section at the moment, but your store might have some!

DD came home at about 4.5 lbs and they fit her well until she hit at least 6 lbs.

My son was a preemie, so I do remember it was hard to get him dressed at first. Baby Gap sells a few simple items like long sleeve onesies and some of their jammies in "up to 7 lbs" (I don't know why they don't just call them preemie?). Old Navy also has an "up to 7 lbs" size. And both of them always have lots and lots of coupon codes. I actually have some GapCash I don't need $50 off $100 if you want it, just let me know!

So the worst thing about having a preemie sized baby is the lack of clothes. Does anyone else feel me on this? Maybe I'm the only one bugged by this haha. I bought every single outfit that was local to me and boy or gender neutral. And that still left me with like 5 outfits. And then I was gifted outfits and got repeats of what I already have. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind having 4 of the same dinosaur sleeper. But it sucks when you desperately want to treat your pregnancy with a low weight baby the same as your other pregnancies, or want to go crazy buying clothes for your little baby. Maybe I'm just bugged by it more because my son could be small for a while. Maybe I need to do something about this when he's older and I have more time to sew. There's just nothing cute in preemie size!!! Does anyone else feel this way?

I included a pic of my son in his sisters American girl doll leggings and tunic outfit. I might need to go that route to find anything other than sleepers haha.
