@lilyofthewest: Thanks!

I was just about to hit "purchase" until I figured maybe I should wait until after I POAS this month before I spend $40...

But of course I paused for a second wondering if I should go ahead and buy it hoping Karma would then make me pregnant this month and not need them. lol

@septca: Thanks! I know last month, what worked was BD cd 13,14,15 (I either O'ed late 15 or early 16) so I am just going to try to repeat that again. I still O'ed when FF thought I would (just off by a few hours at most) so I think the more relaxed approach will work. Best of luck to you, too! :goodluck:

@simplyfelicity: It's really good that you had that talk with your husband. Mine is always really concerned about my health issues (which are related to TTC), but mostly he wishes that TTC could be a much more relaxed affair - he doesn't want me stressing about OPKs, he doesn't believe in POAS until AF is late... I have found that it is really important to discuss these things and hear his side at the same time that I explain why I need the information... it sounds like you guys have come up with a really good compromise, so good luck!!

Thanks for the input, Bees! I sat down with DH and we decided that since we did my first cycle my crazy way, we are going to try one his relaxed way...no opks, but BD EOD from around CD10 to CD 20. I o'ed last cycle on day 15 but after the CP, I just want to cover all my bases. FF has me down for cd 16 but who knows. ED last cycle worked (because we got PG) but its just too much... So I will definitely save these OPK recommendations, but, to be honest, I really hope we don't have to. :silly:

@lilyofthewest: I agree, I think a lot of the bad reviews are due to user error. I've really liked the cbe advanced digital, and even though I have irregular cycles, after using them a few times I wa able to narrow down the days to use them. I never once got a positive from a wondfo even though I was fairly certain I WAS ovulating due to temp shifts

Also I get them on amazon subscribe and save which really helps! I think it's set for a 20 test box every 3 months and you save 5% or more if you subcribe to other items as well

@simplyfelicity: I'm using the regulars and I think they are fine for me... I usually get ewcm about 3 or 4 days before my first smiley and it's always around the time I *think* I should be ovulating so I feel like I personally get a heads up about impeding O :)

@MaryM: I bought my box of 20 sticks (clear blue) at walmart. Was about $40 including tax, which is what they were selling for on amazon. The box lasted me three cycles.

I've used Wondfo, Babi, and the CBE Advanced.

All of them work fine, but, I do now have a preferred set-up.

Wondfo - was accurately positive when I O'd, but, it did cause me some confusion and wasted time, because I had a lot of days where the test line was allllllmost as dark as the control.

Babi - I switched to Babi because of the sensitivity of the Wondfos (and the resultant perpetual almost positive test line). With Babis I have a very pale hardly visible test line until really close to O. On the downside, with the Babis I think I could easily miss getting a positive if I weren't testing multiple times per day (but I do, so, doesn't matter for me).

CBE Advanced - I hesitated on this due to the negative reviews. But, then I actually read a lot of those reviews and discovered that they were largely from women who were mad that they didn't follow the directions (and then it didn't work properly) or were disappointed because it didn't detect ovulation in what sounded like long, anovulatory cycles.

CBE (regular or advanced) will be painfully expensive if you have long or irregular cycles. But, if you have regular cycles and can time their use well, the smiley faces are very reassuring. It is also helpful timing-wise to have the heads up of increasing fertility prior to the LH surge.

If this is not the month, I plan on using Babi and CBE Advanced again.

Also, for those of you who have used the clear blue easy digitals, did you prefer the advanced or regular? I like the idea of using the advanced because it tells you your high and peak fertility days and the regular one only tells you your peak fertility, but the advanced has terrible reviews and most people seem to prefer the regular. Any thoughts on this?

@Brawly: @pinkcupcake: These are all valid points. I think, for my sanity, I will just use the digital one. I have spent so much time bent over tests and taking them apart that I want something easy. I tend to also have a longer surge (at least from last cycle) so I don't think I will miss it. Thanks!

I've only looked at OPKs in the pharmacy (and used the standard CVS cheapies due to cost), and I'm wondering if I should consider something that might be cheaper online than in the store. Any suggestions?

Mine was a multi-answer. I learned about the OPK process from CBE Advanced... i had tried Wandfo's several years previous and had a horrible time with them. CBE helped me to know when I ovulate and for how long, then once I knew Wandfo's preferred due to $$$. I just think CBE is more user friendly (especially the Advanced version) for beginners.

I prefer Babi brand to Wondfo. Less fading in and out on different tests and super cheap. Got pregnant my 2nd cycle using them. I would have used the Clearblue monitor but I have PCOS and my cycles are wackadoo.
