We use microfiber towels to dry lo after every change. We also have been using butt paste which seems pretty thick and takes away the rash in a bout a day.

My LO had a rash for a few weeks when he was just born, and it went away when he stopped pooping so much. We changed him every time he was wet or dirty, but nothing really seemed to make it go away. We did do 'sposies and Triple Paste for a few days and that does help some, but I wouldn't really worry too much about it as long as it's just mild (not bleeding or very large). Do educate yourself on what a yeast rash looks like (and be aware that when babies have regular rashes, it's easier for them to get a yeast infection because of the open sores). I did all sorts of Googling when this happened to me a couple months ago!

Oh, we also use Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Balm after every poop. It's cloth diaper safe and seemed to soothe the irritated areas.

@Silva: When Charlie's wasn't working for us, LO had a rash just on her bum. It wasn't all over. We now use Country Save or original Tide to wash and Grandma El's cream.

@pelikila: We've been using california baby because its all we had- I googled and was worried about having to strip the diapers...but I haven't really noticed any build up on them yet? I will look for a better cream today when we are out...

if it was the detergent, would she be getting the rash all over the diaper area? its pretty localized

Some babies are sensitive to certain cloth safe detergents and Charlie's was one of them for my son. As the other ladies suggested, change frequently, completely dry between diapers, and try a cloth safe cream like CJ's or EMAB. If that still isn't helping, consider if the detergent isn't the right fit.

@Silva: we had the same issue with fitteds - not so much a rash but redness - seemed to be a combo of straining too hard and sitting too long. So we changed him more frequently, made sure to let him air dry before putting new diaper on, and used booty balm to sooth. Cleared up in a day or two.

It sounds like you are doing everything right! I also use prefolds on my newborn and we wash with Ecos detergent and use CJ's butter.

We use disposable diapers and Triple Paste ointment when my older LO gets a rash. It usually clears up in a day or two!

Baby is 12 days old, and has a mild rash on her bum. We use unbleached pre folds, wash in Charlie's. the rash is just around her bum, seems like its related to the constant pooping? We are giving her lots of naked time and putting California baby diaper rash on her and changing her even more frequently....
Help! I feel terrible! She doesn't seem bothered by it, but I feel like we must be doing something wrong
