After the first couple of washes with detergent you can just use hot water. Dry on high heat. Green Mountain Diapers and Abby's Lane have great how-to info on their websites!

Wash with just a tiny bit of detergent and then dry. Repeat until you can pour water on it and it soaks in instantly. The drying is important because you remove some of the fibers with the oils...don't forget to clean the lint tray, and after the first time you will know what I'm talking about. :)

I actually just boiled them for about 30 minute & then ran them through 1 hot wash.

I do know for sure you cannot prep them with other dipes though b/c the natural oils can mess them up.

@Maysprout: Do you have to wash and dry them or can I just run them through a ton of washes and dry once? (I have a bunch and they will make up one load)

I just threw them in when I had other laundry to do. I did use sensitive skin laundry detergent but i do that anyway cause i get itchy from other stuff.

All of my prefolds are brand new. I know I have to wash them a bunch to get them ready to use, but are there certain instructions I need to follow for these first washes?
