@mrsrain: my mom had this normally and she puts on coconut oil every night before bed and it makes a huge difference for her. Plus, it's all natural!

I have bad acne anyway, though it was well controlled by spironolactone and retin-A, which I discontinued while TTC. Especially since I've been pregnant, my skin has been a HOT MESS. I tried Belli, Mario Badescu, Dermatologica, Body Shop Tea Tree, and I'm finally on Proactiv+, which is the only thing that has made even a slight dent in the problem! My midwives are fine with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid used topically.

@ladybee: try sulphur based products. Kate Somerville makes a great foaming mask. And you can get a huge jar of sulphur ointment from Amazon for super cheap- I use it as a spot treatment.
My doctor did say that benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are fine during pregnancy, but some people are concerned about it. I used a face wash that contained salicylic acid, but tried to limit my use of spot treatments/masks containing it (I figured the longer it was on my skin the more would be absorbed? Maybe not, but it made me feel better).
And, for what it's worth, both my doc and the pediatrician were fine with my using retinoid cream while breastfeeding. Again, some people don't like to, but after some research I was fine with it a couple times a week.

I had horrible acne with my second. My skin has always been clear and I had no idea how to treat my skin with acne. I ended up with cetaphil and clearasil. It got "better" but wasn't back to normal until after delivery.
Three pregnancies, three girls, and I only had acne with one. My skin was flawless with my first and is again with my third.

@ladybee: if the Old Wives Tales are true you are having a girl!

My regimen: Cetaphil gentle cleanser followed by St Ives Green Tea blackhead scrub then The Body Shop Tea Tree toner and last Cetaphil moisturizer. I have combination skin with generally bumpy skin.

I had the worst skin of my life when I was pregnant with DS so I don't think gender has anything to do with it. It was all hormonal so nothing topical would help. It totally blows, I feel your pain!

I had some bad cystic acne with DD! I think it's true! I used all these items in the Mario Badescu Acne repair kit with her pregnancy. I read somewhere it was one of the safe lines to use while pregnant. The buffering lotion was my favorite.
https://www.mariobadescu.com/acne-repair-kit

This pregnancy I only had a few pimples here and there. And it's a boy. Not sure if that's the reason why or if I have a better skin care regimen now. I DO use this toner every day now and I've had like 2 teeny pimples since.

I also use cerave.

I get a giant cystic pimple the week of each OB appointment. I don't think anxiety is helping!

I'm also having a girl, so wondering if there is some truth to that theory

@catomd00: if this acne produces a girl, I'll take it!! Before pregnancy I liked Renee Rouleau anti-cystic treatment but I'm not sure if it's safe during pregnancy.

Ugh my skin which is typically nearly flawless was awful when I was pregnant with my daughter. It got better towards the end but there was pretty much nothing I found that worked and k was comfortable using. I like cerave in general. I tried the belli skin products and it was a total waste of $. Good luck! It seriously sucks :(
