Babycenter has good daily updates on their app that tell you roughly what they recommend doing that that time. Here's what I did, but keep in mind I am so incredibly Type A that it's painful.

Registry: Finished around 16 weeks once we knew the gender. Generally I'd say to wait until that point if you're finding out, but definitely wait until you're out of the first trimester.

Nursery: We finished it pretty much up by 26 weeks but there are still a few things to finish it up (mostly registry items like crib mattress, sheets, changing pad, changing pad covers). I had an early goal for this because I didn't want to put it off and then be stuck putting together furniture at 35 weeks.

Shower: Having at 33 weeks.

Childbirth class: Took around 29 weeks. Our hospital recommends doing them in the 7th or 8th month and our hospital was only offering a couple of more classes on the day we needed (Saturdays because of DH's work schedule), one in November and one in December. I didn't want to wait until the new slate of classes went up in January.

Books: I read the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Health Pregnancy on and off from around the first trimester to just finishing it up a few days ago (I'm 30 weeks). I just started reading "The Birth Partner" because L&D is heavy on my mind now. They're both great books! I haven't read any baby books and wondering if I'm way behind on that, but it's a low priority for me right now. I have "Your Baby's First Year" that I could start reading now, but nothing else. I've heard good things about "Happiest Baby on the Block"

I don't have any good resources, and my personal timeline may not be helpful, though you could just add a few weeks to it. Our hospital recommends taking birthing classes at around 28-32 weeks, but we are starting at 24 weeks in case the babies really early. My goal is to have our nursery room all cleaned out (it's being used as an office/junk room at the moment) and painted by Christmas 24 weeks, so I can have the whole thing set up and decorated by 28 weeks. Registering was really hard for me, so I would recommend that you start researching choices early and be registered by the end of your second trimester. That way you have a good list of what you need, plus it will be done so that if someone throws you a shower, the registry is already set up.
As for books, I'm interested to see what everyone else suggests. During the second trimester, I'm working on reading books that talk about labor, recognizing pre-term labor, and baby sleep books (clearly, baby sleep is my biggest fear!). Then in the third tri, I plan on reading more books about actually taking care of the baby, sleep (again, my fear incarnate), etc.

@tororojo: Totally going to check this website out and see what I'm behind on!

Registry: 21 weeks. Waited till found out the gender
Shower: Will be 31 and 33 weeks
Nursery: Working on it now. I want it done by 35/36 weeks
Class: Doctor's suggested waiting till 3rd trimester. Probably will be done between 31-34 weeks.

I found BabyCenter's Ultimate TODO list very helpful:

http://www.babycenter.com/ultimate-pregnancy-to-do-list

And for me:
Registry started at 23 Weeks
Shower will be held at 33 Weeks
Nursery expected to be ready at 34 Weeks
Class registration at 26 Weeks (Infant CPR will be at 28 Weeks, Caring for Newborn at 33 Weeks)

I mainly just read this for the bump/baby updates, but have you checked out the alphamom calendar? http://alphamom.com/pregnancy-calendar-overview/ I love reading it every week and starting sometime in the 2nd tri (I think) she gives you a weekly list of stuff you should be thinking about/buying/doing so as to gradually prepare.

I am almost 15 weeks pregnant, but I can't help think ahead to May when the baby is born. I am currently in graduate school full time and graduate in May (hopefully before baby is born, but I will turn things in early to make sure!). I also work part-time. So, I can't help but think ahead to D-day and try to figure out the most efficient way to work backwards so that I am not panicking at the end trying to prepare! I do have a month off mid-Dec to mid-Jan when we plan to work on readying the nursery, etc, but I will still be in work approx 30 hours a week--so just minus school work.

When should I start a registry?
When should the nursery REALLY be ready? (I know baby won't be in there during the night for a long time, but we are switching our bedroom with our guest/office and our former bedroom will be the nursery).
When do I need to start thinking about/signing up for childbirth classes?
What books should I be reading and when?

I know these answers are different for every person, but have you come across a kind of baby countdown/calendar that is a good, loose guideline?

Thanks for making it through my mini panic attack as I realize that with classes, graduating, work, etc, the next 6 months seem like they're practically gone already...
