if your looking for a website that tracks all this and more check out myfooddiary dot com i've been a member for many years and it really helps give an accurate picture of what your eating and how it breaks down into Fats/carbs/proteins etc. They also have a pregnancy/bf option. it costs about $9/month but i do appreciate the amount of foods and resources it contains. I do not work or them nor have i been compensated i'm just a satisfied member

Here's my update girls! I am currently 38w3d pregnant, with a planned induction scheduled for this Saturday. I currently weigh 4 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. I initially lost 13, and gained a total of 17, which isn't bad. My LO appears healthy as can be on all of her ultrasounds and check-ups. The docs were afraid she'd be a big baby because I am diabetic, but she has consistently measured in the normal, middle of the road range and is expected to be around 7-7.5 pounds this weekend. Not bad!

There's quite a bit of research out there to dispute that grains have a lot of nutritional value. If you focus on veggies, some fruit, and protein, you'll get your carbs from your vegetables. A couple whole grain sides a week wouldn't be detrimental, but i wouldn't necessarily eat them at every meal, either. A sweet potato at breakfast, for example, is a great 'carb' to add to your breakfast, but good for you.

eta: i found the article i was looking for: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/pregnant-diet/#axzz23AQBTYr4

I tried to limit carbs and focus on protein. Pregnant women need a lot of extra protein, I was logging 100 grams a day!!

LOTS of fruits and veggies - I ate granola and fresh fruit or yogurt and fresh fruit for breakfast along with a green smoothie.

Lunch was once a week tuna/salmon sandwich, stir fry over brown rice, homemade burrito - beans, meat, cheese is all full of tons of protein

dinner - potatoes, vegetables and a meat, quinoa sauteed with spinach or kale

If you want pasta - try quinoa noodles. SO delicious!! Quinoa is considered a super grain, it's super healthy!

For desserts I ate dried fruit. You can make your own homemade whipped cream with coconut milk - it's super yummy! i had some last night with fresh blueberries. YUM.

Example of carb combos that are no nos:

Pasta and jarred red sauce! It's an easy meal but a terrible combo. Plus, tons of people eat bread too with this.

Juice/soda are empty carbs

Bagels-have 2-3 times more carbs!

Sandwich and potato chips

Burger and fries

See?

@cheert16: Sure!

Honestly, it's about portions, balancing carbs with protein and eating every 2 hours. You really have to check portion sized on carbs in particular. Also, drinking only skim milk and in moderation and of course watching sugar. Things that I thought were healthy choices like juice are actually terrible for you. Instead of OJ they tell you to eat an orange because with diabetes it is all about how your body processes things. Drinking juice is instant and doesn't fill any craving. A piece of fruit can be enjoyed slowly and has nutritional value!

Sample meals:

Breakfast: 2/3 cup Cheerios 1/2 cup skim milk or 2 slices whole wheat toast & peanut butter

Morning snack: cheese stick and strawberries

Lunch: Large Green Salad with chicken

Afternoon snack: apple with peanut butter/cheese stick

Dinner: chicken, veggie, carb (rice or potato or corn)

Evening snack: carb light ice cream or popcorn

Basically, you can enjoy anything! It's just about not combining carbs and balancing them with foods like protein to help your body digest them more.

My baby is just wonderful! No signs of diabetes or any other complications at birth :)

The eating plan I posted on your wall is the one designed by Kaiser hospitals especially for women with diabetes and/or GD. It is formatted to give your body all of your pregnancy dietary needs while still letting you feel full and eat the foods you enjoy eating.

I am "favororite-ing" this post for when I get a BFP. I am TTC & trying to lose weight but know that as a current size 16, I'll need to work hard to gain very little weight. I was thinking this morning about continuing to track my food (like I am doing on Weight Watchers). But I was also concerned like @cheert16 about getting the right amount of nutrients to my future baby.

@MaisyMay: If you are willing to share your nutrition plan with me too, I am definitely interested.

Like @photojane: said, small meals!
I was an 18/20 pre-preg, but was diabetic. When I found out I was pregnant, my diabetes nurse put me on a fairly strict eating plan, and I've lost about 16 pounds. It works really well. If you are interested in the plan, let me know and I'll put it on your wall.

i didn't diet before getting my bfp, but one piece of advice i have would be to start eating several small meals through out the day. for the first few months you'll need to eat pretty frequently to keep from getting sick, so it's good to get in the habit of eating several small meals instead of stocking up three times a day. i know that eating this way can help your metabolism too!

Looking for some info from any bees who were dieting before getting a BFP- .(I am a bigger girl- so my weight gain during pregnancy has to be lower than a "normal" size girl) and what they did once they found out food wise.

I had been doing a super low carb diet prior and once I got my BFP my doctor (RE) advised me to eat a bit of carbs (fruit/whole grains) to get the nutrional value from them.

Anyone have an good resources on meal plans for Pregnant woman? Or ideas on the best ways to maintain my current weight but give my LO all the nutrition he/she needs? (i know some weight gain is inevitable but my doctor advised me to keep it low) Just looking for some advice or resources!
