@Mrs. Oatmeal: I think walking and yoga are great! no need to go crazy at this point, it's def getting harder to do stuff with this big ole belly :silly:

@Mrs D: sounds like a good plan! I didn't get started until really late in my pregnancy, but every little bit helps.

So...I am currently 9w...I had super high hopes for my first tri being different than last time but the nausea has reared its ugly head. I have done my best to maintain my 10K steps per day and 60 active minutes per my fitbit.

Once I move into the second tri (and this icky-ness goes away) I plan to step it up and add in some videos 3-4 days a week!

I'm thinking I missed the boat on getting in shape. Honestly, baby is so big, and I am in so much pain that even walking up the stairs has me gasping for breath. Too little too late?

Going to keep up with the yoga, and I'll try to keep getting in some walks, but it's tough! Only 6 more weeks, I can make it!

Today I lifted weights and it was the first time I felt winded and pretty weak! My runs have slowed down so much. I think I'm going to sign up for a 10k to stay motivated. Anyone else doing a road race?

How's everyone doing??

I've been doing good about getting to the gym 4 times a week and am eating better too...I'm already noticing a difference in my legs and I think they are def toning up more! My goal is to basically get everything more toned and then once the baby is born, just work on the belly area. hoping the exercise and eating better will help with unnecessary weight gain in third tri.

@Mrs D: the more core you do, the easier labor is going to be! From what I've read you can do ab exercises until 5 months or so, when you have a big bump. No "lying on your back for extended periods of time after 4 months" .

@pachamama: that's awesome you still have so much energy to do all that! Good job!

@Mrs. Pickle: I've been feeling much better too! Less backache and overall less aches.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: sorry about the swelling! I bet swimming feels good though, that's probably really good for it!

@Mrs D: that's awesome! Not sure about core/sit ups... At 28 weeks I'm just focusing on legs/butt since my core is well, huge lol.

I've been doing pretty good! Managing to go to the gym every day or every other day early morning or on lunch break. My problem areas are my thighs/butt so I am really focusing on squats, leg weights, stair master, etc.

So I inadvertently went for my first run since my BFP... I was out for my normal walk when the skies opened up and I got poured on...sweet...so I jogged home. Holy cow was I more winded then normal.

I think after I hear a good strong heartbeat at my first u/s (I am irrationally afraid of knocking the baby loose in there) I am going to start turning my walking into a walk .5 miles, jog .5 miles routine. And try to get up to 1/1...

baby steps!

Planning to get out my prenatal videos this weekend and start up Yoga! Whats the deal with situps/planking/core activities? Can we do them?

I've been stretching and using my hand weights at home every day this week and this is the best I've felt in a long time. I don't think it's a coincidence! I've been doing bicep curls, shoulder presses, chair dips, and squats with the weights. I'm sure I look ridiculous while squatting! Here's the video I found for stretches. I really like it!

@Mrs. Oatmeal: that pic is hilarious!
How's everyone doing? I'm scaring myself because I am not tired at all and am exercising a lot- running 4-6 miles, lifting, hiking, Spin but also gentle yoga and long walks to relax a little. It helps so much with the nausea but I don't want to be stressing baby out.

How far along are you? 13 weeks, 5 days.

Baby#1

Were you active before getting pregnant? Very. I was training to compete in NPC bikini division. I was working out 6-7 days a week, sometimes twice a day with fasted cardio in the mornings and weight lifting later. I'm now down to 5-6 days per week, cardio two to three times a week, weight training 4 days a week.

What are your specific goals? Right now I just want to maintain muscle, not put on excessive weight and just feel great.

What types of exercise do you enjoy? Weight training. I'm trying to love yoga, lol.

Anything else? Nope!

@Mrs D: I think if you're feeling good, you could go for it. I ran a half marathon one month before I got pregnant, and I thought I would keep running into my pregnancy, but I just feel like garbage. I get winded just going for brisk walks and my nausea can come on at any time. But if you feel up to it, it certainly would be good exercise for you and your baby!

So...I am contemplating signing up for a half marathon in October. I am not the most fit person in the world - but I was comfortably running 3 miles this spring in about 30mins. I haven't been running lately (work travel at the end of may derailed me). I have been going for 40 min walks each night to ensure I hit my 10K steps on my FitBit.

My boss does this every year and walks most of it. Before I was pregnant I mentioned I'd do it with her if we could jog every other mile - she agreed to a little more jogging this time and less walking.

I think this may be a great way to stay accountable early on this pregnancy - plus would be such a good accomplishment. I definitely know I wont be able to "train" like you normally would - but if I could run even 4 of the 13 miles (jog 1/walk 2) it would be great.

Thoughts?

Were you active before getting pregnant?
-Yep! I was a member of a crossfit gym and in the best shape of my life. I had to quit going a couple weeks before my embryo transfer because my RE wanted me to take it easy.

What are your specific goals?
-weightlifting. I miss it!

Anything else?
-DH has been encouraging me to keep active. I felt like crap the first tri so I didn't really do anything until 16 weeks. I was just walking for a few weeks and started swimming about a month ago.

@NovBaby1112: just saw this. You are so good! I've totally given up :( I'm going to use this thread as motivation!!!!!

As of yesterday at almost 30 weeks I've gained 20 lbs. :( I think with my first I gained 32 total so hoping to stay close to that!! It's been too hot to do anything....
