@PinkChampagne: I am glad to know that your experience was a good one. :)

For some (like me), working out was not an option due to various complications including pre-term labor (at 22 weeks). Everybody (and every body) is/are different, and sometimes despite our best efforts, not everything is within our control.

ETA: Oh, and I'm not bitter! :) While I gained more weight than I wanted, everything is coming back together, and I don't have any stretch marks. So far, the only change that seems like it may be permanent is my feet being a half size larger.

Absolutely nothing!
I worked out 3-4 times a week, and ate super healthy the entire time. It was hard work but I am SO glad I did it- my labor and delivery was a piece of cake, and my baby weight was gone by 8 weeks post partum (with the help of weight watchers, but other than that, not much effort).
Oh, and those huge, body-shifting changes that supposedly happen? Didn't happen to me. Everything went right back into place.
Im not trying to be obnoxious, but I find it interesting how many ladies would work out more/eat healthier. I think it's really important to talk about how treating your body well during pregnancy really does make a difference!

- Started out thinner
- Kept up with my yoga practice
- Advocated for a more natural labor (indcuced 15 days early due to moderate BP, moderate/low fluid)

I would have been easier on myself and not worked as hard. I also should have followed my gut when I thought I had a slow amnio leak . . . even though I did have it checked out at L&D at 30 weeks, my symptoms persisted until the end, when I had very little fluid left.

Eaten better, eaten less and been easier on my body. We moved during my 3rd trimester and I think it added a lot of stress. I sometimes wonder if that is what caused DS to come 6 weeks early...

haha. I'm pregnant right now, and nothing has gone the way I'd "planned" for it to. For instance, I have 2 older sisters, 1 older SIL and 8 nieces and nephews between my DH and me. I've really seen the night/day approach to everything--pregnancy, child-rearing, parenting in general...and it's really made me "plan" a lot about whose approaches I want to emulate.

So, I decided way before getting pregnant that I was going to be JUST LIKE me second sister, who was worked out 5 days a week during both pregnancies, who gained the minimim of 22-25 lbs both times, who lost weight immediately, who runs half marathons now at the age of 39 and who still has a totally flat tummy and is a size 6.

And of course, with all my "planning", I was the only person in my family to have extreme MS, which meant I was only able to move between my bed and the toilet for..wait for it...7 long, excruciating weeks. I couldn't even walk a block without getting dizzy and throwing up, much less work out. I couldn't eat anything healthy, and existed on toast and crackers.

Awesome.

Even now at 16 weeks, I still have to take 1 zofran a day, to make it through work, and although I'm now able to walk enough to run errands, like go to the grocery store, I still can't work out. And yup, I've already gained too much weight as a result of my "bed rest".

Best laid plans, right?

I don't think I would. I mean I would like to have gained less weight, exercised more, etc. But those things were beyond my control. I had crazy migraines and just getting up and walking for two seconds would trigger a migraine, so I had to sit on my tushy and do nothing in order to avoid taking meds.

I'm dreading this for next time around.

Wish I would have addressed my birth wishes with family more often! Serious IL drama resulted because even though I told them we weren't calling when I went into labor, they flipped out when..I didn't call when I went into labor.

Also would have asked to stay another night a hospital. My insurance covers min 48 hours, we were discharged at 36. So overwhelming having so many visitors, doctors etc in one 8 hour period.
