Mine went away around 8 weeks PP. The wrist braces really really helped though!

I second the wrist brace! I had one that I used in the daytime that was smaller, and a larger one at night. It helped- but didn't alleviate the problem completely. My carpal tunnel went away pretty quickly after I had DD (now if I could just get my belly back into shape...) Good luck!

I felt the same as you after I had my baby! At my six week checkup my fingers were still numb, but my midwife said it should be getting back to normal. I also assumed that I might just have to live with it, but after about three months it finally cleared up. I think it can just take a long time for your fluid levels to return to normal.

I didn't have carpal tunnel as such, but the pain in my hands and wrists was aggravated by breastfeeding and hung around for three or four months post partum. I still get the occasional twinge and my LO is fourteen months old!

You could get yourself some wrist braces to help stabilise your hands and wrists at night, my Hand Therapist also advised me to stop wearing a watch or bracelets and gave me some exercises to do (link below!)

I had carpal on both wrists and it was terrible!!! I wore a brace at night, and did the heat/cold thing. To manage pain I did acupuncture. It really helped for a few nights (then it would return). I swore I'd need surgery, but as soon as I gave birth it was gone!!

I had it during the last trimester, it was unbearable! I slept with a wrist band on both hands every night and would stick those salon pas medicated pads underneath the wrist bands every few days. It went away completely at 6 months!

Ugh, I had it for the last 6 weeks of my first pregnancy, waiting for it to kick in again with this one. My fingers were almost completely numb by the time C was born. I was very limited in my technical duties at work since I couldn't feel my fingers. The only thing that helped was to sleep with a wrist brace that fixed my thumb in a certain position- it took care of the pain, but not the numbness. It took 6-8 weeks post partum, but it went away completely, no more pain, no numbness.

Ugh, sorry you're going through this. I had it pretty bad too but it went away fairly quickly after giving birth. I won't say instantaneously, but maybe a few weeks - and it got better and better each day. Hope you feel better soon!

It improved after birth but the pain didn't completely go away until DS was about 5 months old. His pediatrician said the wrist pain wasn't carpal tunnel but it came from picking up and cradling the baby. One he could sit on my hip when I was holding him, the pain in my wrists went away.

I've had carpal tunnel in both hands since before I was pregnant. For the most part I was able to control it by wearing braces at night. The last few months it has gotten worse & I've had to start wearing them during the day. W/O these braces my entire hand & even up into my elbow will go numb. Find some cheep braces. They are a life saver!

I had awful awful carpel tunnel with my pregnancy, I basically had no hands since they were constantly numb all the time! Mine felt way better immediately after I delivered, but it took until about 6-8 weeks to feel 100% back to normal. Hope you get some relief soon!!

I'm sorry, I know this is really difficult. It took about 3 months for mine to go away. See if there are any chiropractors in your area that specialize in this. With my current pregnancy I am seeing a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy and she adjusts my hands and arms at each appointment to help prevent it this time, but I know they can do adjustments to help after the fact as well. Good luck! I know how hard it is to do things like snap onesies with numb hands :-(

Anyone else have this? If so when did it go away postpartum? I have had a horrible case of it since about 28 weeks pregnant. It was so painful at first that I couldn't sleep but after about a month both hands went completely numb from the ring finger over and have refused to get better since. Every time I brought this up at my OB appointments they would just shrug and tell me it would get better postpartum I am now six weeks out from giving birth without even the tiniest improvement. I am now beginning to wonder if I will end up in the small majority of patients needing surgery to correct the problem. Anyone else have a case as bad as mine that healed? How long did it take?
