I just came up with things I needed to do, as long as they weren't noisy. And then either I'd get up and do them, or I'd think of doing them, realize I'm actually pretty tired, and go back to sleep. Win-win. I put in a lot of work hours that way, started a nice quilt for DD, and once randomly mopped the floor the night before we unexpectedly had guests over.

And sometimes I just wanted a snack or a cup of tea.

@atoz: Relaxes muscles, which helps (at least for me) with sleep. I think it's similar to the supplement, but with oil (which is just dissolved epsom salts, not actually an oil) you don't have to worry about digestive side effects...

@annem1990: Bedtime snack does help, but I’m not necessarily hungry. Sometimes I do end up getting up and eating in the middle the night if I really can’t sleep!

@MrsSCB: @BadgerMom: I might have to try that again. I used unisom at the beginning of my pregnancy for morning sickness, but found that if I didn’t get enough sleep it would leave me feeling dizzy the next morning.

@periwinklebee: What does the magnesium oil do? I recently started taking a magnesium supplement for leg cramps, is it the same sort of thing?

@pachamama: It’s the worst. And I totally agree with you about the exercise. I haven’t been good enough about following through with it, partly because I’m just so exhausted by the end of day! Catch 22.

I took Tylenol PM most nights, on a recommendation from my OB.

I also listened to an audiobook to help me focus on something other than the fact that I was awake. I still use this now when I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm usually back asleep in 5 minutes, versus tossing/turning for another hour or longer.

Are you hungry? This happened to me and the only thing that would work is to go eat. I’d usually make a PB&J before I went to bed and then ate it at like 2am :silly: I was usually able to go back to sleep immediately after.

Girl this is me!!! Im 26 weeks. I found mine was linked with some anxiety I've been having about taking leave from work. But ita very persistent so then I was thinking maybe it really is hormonal. I'm interested to see if anyone has any ideas because I'm really sick of being awake from 2 to 4am.
one thing, I will be annoying and suggest exercise. I always sleep better when I exercise. Napping throws off my night sleep.

I'm about 28 weeks pregnant and for the last few months have been struggling to sleep well. I go to bed exhausted around 8:30-9:30 PM and by 1AM, I wake up having to go to the bathroom. After that, I often struggle to fall back asleep. I'm either up for hours or I'm tossing and turning restlessly the remainder of the night. This is easily happening 4-5 nights a week.

You guys, I'M EXHAUSTED. I have a toddler at home and WOH FT so napping is tough. I've tried cutting off electronics, doing yoga, taking a bath, limiting fluids, breathing exercises, etc. My husband is sleeping in another room to give me more space. Some of this helps sometimes, but not with any consistency.

If you struggled with this, what did you do? I have a midwifery appointment coming up and at this point I'm open to considering any options that might help.
