If you take too much of it you pee it out anyway, it doesn't build up and cause harm. And there's a reasonable amount of it in prenatal vitamin supplements, so it can't be bad.<br /> Honey is fine during pregnancy, and in children over one year old. I definitely took them when I had a cold, after googling whether they were safe for pregnancy. Of course I also took vitamin C and then realized later that it was a no-no. I think honey is fine for mom. I thought you were supposed to avoid it due to botulism? </p> <p>I had a cold once during my first pregnancy and it seriously sucked. I took Tylenol for fever and aches. And for sore throat, I found some natural cough drops at Trader Joe's. But they didn't work that well. Oh and extra vitamin C is safe, and will speed your recovery from the dose.
