No advice, just commiseration. I am seven weeks pregnant and am having the same problem. I took a nap on my office floor yesterday! Last night, DH took the monitor and slept in the guest room so DD wouldn't wake me (usually she STTN but she has a cold), but I still felt like I was up for half the night.

I will definitely ask my doctor about unisom - fingers crossed!

@MoreCoffee: @blackbird: @winniebee: @mamabolt: I'm going to try unisom tonight for a couple nights...if it works I'll call my Dr just to get her approval for peace of mind! Thanks for the input!

@birdofafeather: I started diffusing doTerra's serenity (has lavender in it) at night and thought it was working but now not so much. My oils lady recommeded vetiver (I think?) so I am going to try that for a night or two. For now I am just using a king size pillow I move around with me...its "ok" at best!

@Alivoo01: Ugh...sorry you are struggling too!

@catlady: My dog walker (also my oil lady) recommended this as well. I need to look into it more. I have been trying to read before bed instead of tv time...thinking it may help my brain shut down!

If you want to try something that's not medication, I use guided meditation alot to help me sleep. Not even necessarily the ones geared towards sleeping but just ones to help you relax and get your brain to stop racing. It wasn't a miracle but it helped alot during my last pregnancy. There are all sorts of apps these days to choose from.

@blackbird: ditto this. Loved my unisom. I was sleeping all night at 8/9 months pregnant first time around.

I use lavender essential oil to help relax me and fall asleep, limit screen time before, make sure I'm drinking water throughout the day to help with circulation and just pray that I don't wake up too much or get insomnia. I ditched a pregnancy pillow for a soft body pillow because I also move a lot and those big pillows were too hard to flip with me!

Oh man!! This is me!! DS still doesn't STTN and I'm up peeing every couple hours too! I'm either a back or tummy sleeper and sleep just isn't coming easily. I lie awake for a long time before falling back asleep, only to have DS wake me up. arg!!! Hoping you get some well-rested sleep soon!

Unisom - it's safe for pregnancy. I took 1/2 tab for most of both of my pregnancies.

Is it bad if I try unisom for a night or two before bringing it up to my Dr? I have no elevated risk factors with myself or my pregnancy?

I took unisom practically every day of my pregnancy. It was the only way I got a decent nights' sleep at the end. Man, it was good stuff.

I take Diclegis for morning sickness but at this point it's what's keeping me asleep at night, too. I've been told by my midwife that Unisom and Diclegis are extremely safe (Diclegis is extended release unisom/b6)! I would ask your doc about taking some Unisom as needed or maybe getting a prescription for Diclegis. Pregnancy, caring for a toddler, working, and then getting no sleep is a REALLY rough haul. I slept terribly with my first pregnancy too, but I had a more flexible job and a lot more downtime so like you said it was more manageable.

I never had any luck with a pregnancy pillow but found just a plain body pillow REALLY helped. I'm also a stomach sleeper, and the plain pillow let me sleep kind of on a 45 degree angle - if you throw your arm and leg over the pillow and tuck your belly against it it's almost like you're sleeping on your stomach.

I need help from the hive!

My sleep is horrific. It was horrific with DD and I never remember it improving. As that was my first pregnancy I wasnt extra exhausted from chasing around a toddler, being interrupted in the middle of the night by a toddler and just generally able to rest more during the day/weekends. This time, with LO#2 I am dying. Literally laid my head down at work yesterday and fell asleep. It is awful.

Basically - I lay down at 9pm and am able to fall asleep quickly. From then - I toss and turn and just cant get comfortable. I am a tummy sleeper which has recently (14w) become uncomfortable. Within 2 hrs I then have to pee - afterwards I have a tough time falling back to sleep. When I do - I toss and turn and am usually up repeating this pattern every 1.5-2 hours throughout the night.

I am buying a maternity pillow today on amazon (the U Shaped one) - I bought one last time (the schnoodle maybe) and it just never was great mostly because I had to move it with me when I tosses and turned over.

I am wondering if any bees took any medication to sleep and if it helped? I dont remember my Dr offering any sleep meds as an option with DD so I am sure that wont change. Just wondering what other bees have been informed is safe? Or what methods/tips/tricks worked for getting some zzz's?

I'm not looking for a blissful 8 hrs - but I really feel with 1.5-2 hrs at a time I am never getting into good deep sleep which cannot be good for me or the baby!
