I had both, but didn't get the SI belt until the last week or so after the physical therapist recommended it. The pregnancy belts are a nice little bit of extra lift and support but just not enough to address serious pubic/pelvic/SI support issues. I got one with my second pregnancy and it made a huge difference. Like being able to walk vs not. I just felt a lot of pressure on my pelvis and bladder, so the belt really helped to support my belly.
