@tororojo: It is a little bigger than the regular one and is able to open your nose up more. The regular ones never did much for me and these did.

I've also used the squirt bottle version of the neti pot (SinuRinse or something like that). The pot always looked too awkward. It takes a little getting used to but it does work well.

Another vote for neti pot! It works miracles! It'll help your throat too - your throat probably hurts from post nasal drip (while you sleep the mucous drips down the back of your throat and irritates it) - using the neti pot before bed will help that too. :)

@boiledpnut: But if the air is cold it hurts my throat! Ugh I feel so poor right now but I guess we'll need a humidifier at some point--I would hate for LO to feel like this! I will see how cheap I can find one. ;)

@tororojo: That might be part of the problem-the high heat. It can really dry out the air and cause congestion. Why not get a humidifier that can be used in the nursery when baby comes? They aren't that expensive. I promise it's worth it! :)

@boiledpnut: I don't have one and don't want to invest at this point in time, but I bet it would be really nice! I have been turning the heat up a little higher than usual, which feels better on my throat.

Get the Neti Pot! My drugstore also sells something called a Sinus Rinse - same thing, but IMO easier to use.

I used it all the time when pregnant and BFing and it works! Its disgusting, but it works and you can breathe again.

@Bookworm: My list (from the doc) says Mucinex DM is also fine but sadly it doesn't mention Mucinex D that @dagret likes.

@.twist.: Just now saw that picture--do I want that to be me? I don't know!

Saline spray sounds like a good compromise; I've never used that either so it's still an adventure!

Mucinex will def. help loosen up the phlegm, but I don't think you can take mucinex-d when you're pregnant, which is the good stuff.

I second the neti pot and breathe right strips rec...One thing though, I'm pregnant and have so much mucus that the neti pot isn't running in a lovely stream like in the picture...it runs down my face and drips off my chin. Awesome.

If you can't handle a neti pot, though, i would get saline spray. Same principle.

I don't know if I have a cold or sinus infection or what, but it's been a week now and there is mucus constantly draining out of my head...it's not as bad during the day, but at night I keep waking up with crap caught in between my throat and nose...it's like mucus is trying to drown me. I know that's gross. So I take a hot shower in the morning, blow and hack up a lot of stuff and feel okay all day long, then the next night I'm back to drowning and I hack a bunch of stuff up in the morning.

Any recommendations? I'm drinking lots of liquids. Currently having hot tea. I started elevating my head more at night, which helps a little. My OB says I can take Sudafed or Mucinex, neither of which I'm familiar with--anyone have experience with these and do you think they would help with the mucus problem? I don't have any other cold symptoms and I'm not in pain, so I figured I would just wait it out but it's taking forever!
