I didn't tell them until they verbally offered me the position. I didn't wait until it was in writing because I knew I didn't want to work for a group that wasn't supportive of the pregnancy. Luckily they were excited.</p> <p>As for maternity leave. Check with the laws in your State. I'm technically not eligible for FMLA but MA says they have to offer 8 weeks even if I haven't been there a year. In addition to that, my company is honoring the FMLA 12 weeks - if I want it. I'm around 10 weeks and looking for a job. </p> <p>I have been told that as long as you show long term committment to the job most employers will be ok with it. I changed jobs at 14 weeks and I'm so much happier that I did. You can still get maternity leave (it will be the standard 6-8 weeks depending on the type of birth that you have). In terms of telling them, I did not disclose until the first day on the job. I think it was surprising to my bosses but they were ultimately okay with it because I was already thinking about how to cover the time that I will be away. </p> <p>As for day care, you should probably begin to look into places now so that you have potential places to go if you get the job.</p> <p>It can be scary but if you honestly think this will be a great move for your career, then you can do it. I felt the same way as you and was very nervous about the transition. The only downside is that I'm 18 weeks pregnant. I went for my interview, but I'm not showing that much, so I don't think they know I am pregnant. Of course, once I get the offer, in writing I plan to tell my supervisor ASAP, but I didn't want being pregnant to play a factor in the hiring process at all as it shouldn't be. If I'm the best candidate, I should be chosen and that's that.</p> <p>I guess, I'm nervous because I don't know how they will react once I tell them. I'm nervous because not sure what to do about daycare for my toddler as I was a SAHM. FMLA won't apply to me as I haven't been at the job for a year, so job security isn't necessarily 100% secure. With all these doubts and insecurities, I'm beginning to wonder whether taking this job is worth it. I mean in the long run, it will be great for my career, but I just feel scared. Anyone else ever been in my shoes? </p>
