I couldn't stand the smell of coffee in my first trimester but started drinking it again in my second- usually green mountain kcups.

Everything was fine for me! No particular one that I had to drink. I mostly have French press at home or lattes from my local coffe shop.

@MrsRcCar: Fingers crossed! At least you're not dealing with a young one and pregnancy sensitive sense of smell. I found that for a while, my son's dirty diapers reminded me of the smell of Arby's roast beef. Needless to say, I have had Arby's in a while!

@MrsRcCar: Pray your sense of smell goes back? How old is your son?

@MrsH: I'm with you there, although my doctor keeps telling me "Drink water first because the caffeine in coffee blocks your pores so you don't look as hydrated and refreshed." I think what he was really trying to tell me was that I looked tired...

@Foodnerd81: Yeah, I've had to add more creamer than normal if I get something that isn't Folger's. Last pregnancy, I drank it half and half - half regular, half decaf - and one of them usually had a bit of a flavor to them. Of course, that was when I was buying coffee on campus before class!

@ladyfingers: I hate Maxwell Coffee House! Is that weird? Of the two, I much prefer Folgers and I think that's about as budget friendly as you get :)

@MsMini: BF could be the culprit, I don't remember what it was like drinking coffee and BF. But I don't have the luxury of getting lattes very often (even though I love them!) so I've had to make due with cheap grocery coffee. I got spoiled last pregnancy because there was a cafe that served coffee in those little push containers and a Starbucks on campus. At home, I make due with Bailey's coffee creamer!

I loved coffee prior to being pregnant with DS. While pregnant and even now I can't stand the smell of anything that isn't espresso. It sounds weird but what are you going to do...

Non-flavored ones. Sometimes I'd water down dark roast so it was more mild and I could pretend I was being better about getting water in.

I've only had home brewed, haven't even really been tempted by starbucks, which is weird. I prefer something less strong in general now, though-- I have a local half caf one that I really like, but I can drink regular folgers too, with maybe a little extra creamer.

When I was pregnant I could only drink espresso based drinks (lattes and Mochas), I couldn't drink regular brewed coffee anymore. Even now I find I don't like regular brewed coffee as much as I did previously, my LO is 9 months old, so I wonder if it is a permanent change, or if brewed coffee will taste good to me again after I stop BF.

@Mrs. Blue: It'll take a few weeks but yeah, once everything in your body settles down smells that used to bother you and foods that used to upset you suddenly are heaven again :)

I haven't noticed anything different. I liked Dunkins and Green Mountain coffee before I got pregnant and I still do! Just now I try to drink half-decaf to limit my caffeine.

We have a bag of Dunkin Donuts that is almost gone, I think I'm going to switch to Starbucks though. I've not been able to drink my entire cup lately, but we were at a retreat this weekend and they had starbucks pods in our room and they were great :)

With my last pregnancy I preferred instant coffee over freshly brewed, it was strange!

I just can't drink coffee period, even though I'm in the third trimester. I don't think any brand would be better since I've tried to drink it from a few different places, all with unfortunate results. Here's hoping that goes away right after delivery!

Just curious. Was there one brand of coffee you preferred when you weren't pregnant that you found hard to drink when you were pregnant? Or did you find that even though you still liked the same coffee, you had to find a brand that was less acidic?

Normally different coffee brands don't bother me - that I recognize anyways - but when I'm pregnant, I need to have the Folgers Simply Smooth. What about you?
