My hospital actually encourages spouses to come. Hubs will definitely be there that Saturday!

My husband wasn't able to attend mine b/c he had a business trip that came up at the last minute. I was the only woman in my entire class who didn't have her partner present. So yes! Bring your husband! Also, having breastfeeding support from your husband during the early days after baby's birth will probably prove to be very useful. It was for me!

DH went with me, and I was really glad he did. He learned SO much about BF and just the anatomy of what happens after a woman has a baby that promotes breastfeeding. It was really wonderful when 2 days after baby was born and my milk wasn't in and she was losing weight, he knew that it would take up to 5 days for my milk to come in and that I should just keep nursing. He wasn't pressured or pressuring for formula at that point. I'm really glad that he came with me!

Yep, bring the hubby with you for sure! He's gonna be your biggest supporter when/if you have challenges. He might remember important details from the class that you might forget as well. My BIGGEST tip to all pregnant women is an obvious one...GET HELP from a lactation consultant ASAP if you are having issues. I waited until 6 weeks and though I loved bonding with the baby when breastfeeding, I also shed many tears over how difficult/painful it was, especially when I developed an infection! Hope breastfeeding goes well for you, and the ladies here on HB are so helpful and supportive!

I went, and wish my husband had come! I forgot almost everything they taught, and I'm positive that if my husband had come he would have remembered.

If I can give you any advice, it's watch some videos of a newborn nursing properly. My doula lent me a video from Dr Jack Newman (he's like the super BF guru) where he explained using real women and newborns what a good latch looks like, how they swallow, how to latch the baby etc. It was super helpful.

i'm bummed because DH can't come to a class with me. but he's in school OOT M-F, so there are literally no dates that work. i have to schedule a special birthing class so he can be there!

that being said, i'm going to go to a la leche league meeting beforehand (maybe several times if i like it) and then try to go to a class at a local store before DD arrives in january. our doula can help and i'm hoping our birthing teacher can run over some basics with DH there.

There were about 30 other woman in my class and every single one had a partner with them, so definitely bring him! I wish my husband paid a little more attention during our class, but what can you do? :)

We covered this as part of my birth classes, so my husband was there. Definitely bring him! A supportive partner makes a HUGE difference (vs. "this is a pain, give the baby a bottle!" down the road).

Def ask him to go! My husband was afraid he would be the only dad and I told him if he was he can walk out. But I would say 85% of the dads were there. I think it's so important for dad to be there! You might not think it now but his encouragement will mean a world of difference!

I wish DH could go to mine but he found out that he'll be in sort of a school/work program for the next 5 saturdays and can't make it. My mom is coming with me instead. Everyone I've talked to who have gone encourage your SO to go as it's helpful to have two people to learn the whole process in case one of you forgets something.

I am 33 weeks and have my breastfeeding class tomorrow. For those that had gone to this, did your husband/significant other go too? I hate to drag him there if it's likely to be all women, but the class info said "partners are encouraged to attend".

Also, if there is any good advice on questions to ask, I'd love to hear. I don't know a single thing about BF'ing and am really hoping to get some good info out of the class.
