I found a place that will do prenatal massage during first trimester and my doc also said it was okay. I'm assuming most places won't do it bc of liability reasons and maybe because they don't have trained prenatal therapist. @MrsScottish: I honestly don't know if there is a huge difference between prenatal and regular massage, especially during first trimester (other than avoiding the belly). I'm just looking forward to alleviating some shoulder (work) and lower back (pregnancy) tension/soreness. I have had 3 since finding out I'm pregnant and am 11.5 weeks. Just let your therapist know and he or she will adjust the massage. There's a few spots we try to. Avoid. She said that it is still fine, just to let her know. My midwives were less concerned but I was not about to risk it. I guess I technically did, although it was 12w6d so last day of my 1st trimester. I told the masseuse I was pregnant and she modified the massage accordingly. The spa was totally fine with it. My understanding is that some places won't do it because they're scared of being blamed if a m/c does occur, since they're statistically more likely early on, but that there's nothing inherently dangerous about actually getting the massage.
