I tried nature's way alive prenatal tablets first and then the gummies. Both gave me the uti like discomfort. People just refuse to believe me. I'm glad I found this post- at least I know I'm not imagining it or acting like a hypochondriac. I guess I'll have to shop around for a brand that suits me. I just hope the multivitamin manufacturers do something about this... however until then trial and error it is!! :(

I have been taking garden of life raw organic prenatal vitamins. I totally thought i had a UTI until I read this. It hurts after I pee, for a while. I'm going to try switching to see if it helps.

NO WAY.
Oh my gosh, I have sworn a thousand times this pregnancy that I've had a UTI, and the results are always negative. I never even THOUGHT that it might be my prenatal!
Luckily, I have some samples of another kind, so I might give those a try.

The things you learn on the internet....

@Mrs.Someone: I take a plant based vitamin as well (the Rainbow Light Prenatal One) ... There is a lot of ascorbic acid (it's the 2nd ingredient). I didn't take the vitamins today or yesterday, and I'm feeling so much better. So weird ... and annoying that I have a bottle of 150 pills and have to find something else!

Never had this happen, but I take a food-based prenatal. It might be worth trying, since it is natural instead of chemicals?

That stinks! Maybe you can piece together supplements to avoid high levels of the ascorbic acid.

The woman from the Art of Making a Baby blog shared her supplement routine. It's a bit intense, but it would be worth it to me avoid bladder irritation! http://prebabyblog.com/2012/01/supplements-during-pre-conception-and-pregnancy/

For those of you ladies on prenatal vitamins, have any of you ever experienced bladder or urinary pain? I went to the doctor last month because of what seemed like a UTI ... the labs came back normal. No UTI. The problem has persisted since then (not as bad, but still uncomfortable). Over the weekend, we were out of town and I skipped my prenatal (we aren't actively trying). On Monday morning, I realized I wasn't having any pain at all. I took my prenatal yesterday afternoon, and today, I am extremely uncomfortable. After researching a bit, I see the acid (ascorbic acid) can cause this pain. I was so afraid I was developing IC, but I really think it's the vitamins. I wonder if anyone else has gone through this and/or found a prenatal that doesn't irritate your bladder.
