@MamaBear87: @meadow: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I'll ask my dr about the rx. If it is cheaper that would be great. If not I may try GNC. It'll need to get an iron supplement too.
Thanks!

I asked my ob what the difference was between dha marketed to pregnant women and fish oil capsuls (since they tend to be a lot cheaper). He said not much and I could just take fish oil since dha wasn't in my prenatal. I but mine in bulk from puritans pride.

I take OB complete with DHA (rx but works out cheaper than over the counter!) The pill is the size of a jelly belly jelly bean......I find it easy to swallow.

Around 10 weeks I added in a gummy calcium because I didn't think I was getting enough from food. I bought Citracal brand and they are very yummy. I feel like I can find coupons easily for them.

Ask your ob if they recommend a rx one. I was happily surprised that the ones they recommend were free thru my insurance. The generic name for mine is prena1 and the name brand is prena pearl I believe. Never had an issue with them making me nauseous or anything either

Bumping this thread and seeing anyone has any new recommendations since last October? I take the target brand but am running out and am not sure when I'll make it back to target.
The Happy Mama line is tempting with their marketing of their prenatal gummies.

I did the mini/small Rainbow Lights because they gave me the least upset stomach. I had to take large doses of DHA later in pregnancy and highly, highly recommend these ones: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001F0RA34/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

@hocuspocus: If you get them on Amazon, do a Subscribe & Save. I've been doing that for a really long time and love it. Eventually, you can add diaper and wipe subscriptions. It helped me not having to run out to the store for them with a newborn/infant.

I take the Nordic naturals prenatal dha.

I alternate between naturemade prenatal (it's usp verifified) and rainbow light. I prefer the naturemade; they are much easier to swallow. But a friend gave me a bunch of rainbow light so I'm using those also. I hear there's a mini version of rainbow light; those might be nice to try.

I am so nauseous as it is, I take the Up & Up (Target) gummy prenatals. I took the Rainbow Light ones with my first pregnancy, but I was always throwing them up, so the gummies are better for me. They don't have iron though, so I just try to eat a lot of iron-rich foods, like spinach. I didn't need a separate iron supplement last time. I also take Expecta DHA softgels.

my grocery store does free prescription prenatals. They actually just switched which one it is, so i'm not srue of the brand, but i know it has DHA and it's free. Might be worth checking out your local grocery stores/pharmacies

I also have some chewy UP and UP ones which are easier on my tummy, but since they taste like candy i mentally associate them as not being as "good" for me, so I don't take them as much.

I know a lot of people here love the Rainbow Light Prenatal so I'm sure you'll get a lot of recommendations for that! I had a REALLY hard time swallowing pills while pregnant (bad gag reflex + nausea + psyching myself out, haha!) so I ended up with the following regimen:

-Chewable multivitamin
-Chewable Calcium + Vitamin D supplement
-Ovega-3 (a vegetarian DHA+EPA gel cap, no fishy taste!)
-two 400mcg folic acid tablets (extremely small and easy to swallow)

That was 1200mcg folic acid total, including the MV, which was recommended because I was at higher risk of having neural tube deficiency. You may not need that much.
