@Thehistoryofus: Thanks! I'm actually not getting cervadil from what I understand - they're doing the balloon catheter induction first. *shrugs* the midwives said it's not awful, just pressure. We'll see how that goes! I hope my labor progresses! My body doesn't seem to want to give these little boys up!

@Shimmer: Good luck! I also was induced at night and was able to actually get a little bit of rest. I was lucky and my water naturally broke by 6 am the next morning and out came the cervidil.

Text messages are a great way to keep a date stamp of everything. I also love to look back at pictures of the monitors!

@purrpletulips: Thank you! And thanks for sharing your induction experience. I'm starting with a balloon catheter tonight to dilate/ripen my cervix and tomorrow morning starts the Pitocin! I'm going to try to keep track of how things go so I can write out my birth story afterwards... we'll see how that pans out! ;)

You will do great! Just stay focused on meeting your little guys and rest when you can (especially after the epidural).

I was induced and thought it went pretty smoothly (but I didn't have a comparison). I went in at 2cm dilated, started on pitocin around 8AM, was 4cm around noon when I got the epidural, OB broke my water shortly before 1, was 8cm around 2PM and DD was born just before 5PM.

Only complication was DD didn't like the epidural and water break so close together so her heart rate took a dive but some repositioning and oxygen stabilized her.

I wasn't allowed anything to eat or drink once admitted which was annoying but not too bad since it was really only about 8hr start to finish; it would have been more difficult if it had been a lot longer.

@Shimmer: the cervidil getting inserted was just like a cervix check. I dreaded them but other people seem to not mind at all. And it was only one uncomfortable second and then I didn't feel it at all. It was there from 7pm until 5am when I rolled over in bed and my water broke.

@Shimmer: Before the first dose, I was 0cm dilated with no contractions. After the first dose, I was still not dilated enough...maybe 2 so I got another dose. It wasn't uncomfortable, it felt like a tampon going in? The cervical checks were worse!

I didn't feel discomfort until my contractions started which was about 2-3 hours after the second dose of cervidil.

Good luck! Can't wait to hear about your delivery and your boys!

Good Luck, I'll be thinking of you. I was diagnosed with ICP, too. Words don't describe the itching. I wanted to crawl out of my skin, Definitely eat a great meal the day before you go in. All I could think about was food, I think I ended up going almost 40 hours without since I wasn't planning on the induction when I first went into L&D for a blood draw. I was given cytotec to start induction. They started at 1PM, I didn't start feeling contractions until 11PM (3 doses, I think?) Made it to 5ish cm before I asked for the epi (that was between 7-8am). Started pushing at 11:45am and LO arrived at 11:57am.

@tequiero21: When your labor stalled, did the docs push for a c-section? I'm hoping to avoid it unless it's medically necessary and don't want to be pushed into it because the staff is going to be late for dinner if I don't deliver when they want me to.

@Clementine: Thank you for all the great tips! I didn't think about #5 at all - I'll be sure DH puts his sneakers in his bag! I am going to speak to my midwives today about the procedure, but if they start with the foley balloon, I should get the epi first?? Oh boy. I hear that it can stall labor but all help it along, so I guess everyone is different!

@Mrsbells: Thank you! :)

@looch: Ah, I didn't think of that! Thanks!

@Mrs.B: I'm glad to hear you and your baby did well and you were able to deliver vaginally!

@rachiecakes: As of Tuesday, I'm not dilated at all either. I'm hoping to have progressed at least a little since then and/or that I respond well to the foley balloon or cervadil, whichever they choose to do first! Did the cervadil make things uncomfortable or do you not notice a difference?

@MerryC: I think its the anticipation that's killing me! The worst part is that I've seen epidurals placed during my rotations in the hospital, so I keep having that flash through my brain! Ugh! I'll definitely make sure it's well taped so that's not something else I have to worry about!

@autumnlove: We're definitely bringing the iPad and laptop with us! I'm going to be bored stiff, especially if I'm limited in my movement due to the constant need to monitor the babies. Did the cervadil make you uncomfortable or did you not notice a difference at all when you dilated? Does the discomfort come with dilation or with contractions only?

(I have so many questions - sorry everyone! lol)

I definitely recommend eating! And take a book, magazine or Ipad or Kindle so you have something to do while the meds kick in! The first dose of cervidil didn't do anything so they gave me another dose....i had a lot of time to kill and I wasn't able to sleep because I was so anxious! :-)

The pinch from the numbing shot was the worst part of the epi for me. The doc described it as a bee sting and id say thats pretty accurate. I was also pretty shaky from throwing up at that point, so DH had a job to help me stay still at the critical moments. And make sure they tape the tubes well! I was so worried about it getting yanked out when i was moving beds in and out of the OR, but lots of tape held everything just fine :)

I was induced and it was totally fine! I wasn't dilated at all. I went it, they put the cervidil patch on my cervix. My water broke on it's on when I rolled over in bed. Contractions started right after that. I labored throughout the day and had him that night.
Good luck, mama! :)
