My kid started daycare at 9.5 months and it kicked off or just coincided with a nasty phase of separation anxiety. But we are like 5 or 6 weeks in now and he LOVES daycare. I knew he would when he adjusted, but it was hard to get used to for all of us.

I dunno if it actually helped, but we talk to him about daycare all the time. Like, "Aren't you so excited to go see your friends and teachers tomorrow?" "It must have been so much fun to paint a heart and play with musical instruments today." I want to be positive with him about it whenever we talk about it, and keep any guilt/anxiety for myself.

Honestly, take it one day at a time, expect it to be wonky at first, and know that it totally gets better. Even if it starts out great, I think it still gets better once they settle into the routine. I could not be happier with how my son is doing right now. It just took time.

@regberadaisy: 13 months. It's an infant/toddler school. They follow RIE and Montessori principles. It's like a center, but in a renovated home.

How old is she? What's a toddler house?

I'm sure she will do great!

Anyone following the drama of our daycare search will be relieved to know they don't have to hear about it anymore! ;)

Today we enrolled our 13 month old at a wonderful new toddler house in town. We're nervous, and it all feels very bittersweet (as she's been at home since birth).

We are really, really excited and happy with our decision, but now I'm thinking, "Will she be okay to be away from us 7 hours a day?" ... I am certain she will get used to it, but now I'm just a little sad thinking it'll be confusing at first?

She's an extremely friendly, happy baby. She rarely cries, which makes me feel a little better about it.

Any advice for making the first few weeks easier? And yeah, I know this is really a question about making it easier for me. I truly think she's going to love it, but with her being so young, there's no way for her to tell me. Encouragement would be amazing right now!! Thanks mamas (and papa).
