@Mrs D: Thanks, I had a line like that but it included something about feeding so I deleted it. I'll add the support back in.

I think it sounds good...only thing I may consider adding is something to the effect of "so I can ensure we have proper support lined up" so he knows you are willing to travel and not simply prepping him for a "ya, I cant travel" follow up email.

I travel a lot for work and have always been open with them about liking to travel (which I do) and what my limits are for enjoying it. I think letting him know that you are ok with travel and prepping for it may help get a better response - may make him less worried about ulterior motives.

That sounds great and definitely doesn't sound like you are trying to get out of traveling.

I'm returning to work in mid-October and I'm starting to stress about business travel with two LOs. While I was pregnant my job travel requirements went from about every two months to almost weekly including a lot of weekends. I didn't have to do the travel because I could not preform the job function while pregnant so team members have been covering for me for almost a year.

The project I was working on just completed another travel intensive phase (I think). I'd like to find out what the travel needs will be upon my return so I can try to build a stash and I was thinking of sending an email like below. I'd appreciate your thoughts. I don't want to come across as asking not to travel although I'm really hoping the travel is over or that the person covering the travel so far will finish it up.

"Hello (Boss),

Congratulations on the launch of the new product line. Very impressive that it got out so quickly.

I’m starting to plan for my mid-October return. I’m hoping to make the transition as seamless as possible for the team and for my family. It would be helpful to get a sense of anticipated travel needs for October & November.

Since projects can change quickly I thought it would make sense to check in with you now and again at the end of September so I can be prepared to travel as needed. Are there any trips on your radar at this point?

Thanks,
Corduroy"

Thoughts appreciated. Boss is male, no kids, if that matters. LO will be 4 months when I return.
