@Silva: I use Squeaky Pieces stripper, but it's locally made for me and I buy it at my cloth diaper store.

I like following Fluff love for cloth diaper issues.

Since you know where the diapers are coming from (assuming you know there wasn't any exposure to yeast or anything) I'm sure a hot wash and maybe some time drying in the sun would be fine. If you do feel the need to bleach and/or strip them, you could probably use one of those big plastic storage tubs - they'd hold enough water to do a whole load at once.

I would strip them and then sanitize them. I strip mine in a 5-gallon painter's bucket that I bought strictly for this purpose.

I would just do a hot or sanitize wash.

I wouldn't bother bleaching them. Just run them through the sanitize cycle and call it a day. The water on those cycles gets really hot!

I'm reading online that I should bleach our prefolds before using them on a new baby.

they were used by our daughter (who is now 3) and some of the newborn sized ones were also used by a friend's baby.

I don't use bleach very often, have a front loader, and don't think I can do a bleach soak in my bathtub (it's an enameled cast iron?). So I'd have to soak in buckets. That will be a huge pain in the ass. We have a lot of prefolds- newborn and small sized.

I do have a "sanitary" cycle on my washer, maybe I could do that instead?
