I think Montessori is tricky- you have to make sure they really are Montessori, if that's what you want. Lots of places are sort of Montessori inspired but not really..and just use the name.

Our child will definitely go to preschool. We don't practice a religion, but I would consider sending my child to a religious program. Truthfully it will be based on the best program we can get for what we can afford. I went to a religious based school with nonreligious peers and they were ok. It would also depend on how much they push religion..some programs do a lot more than others in that area!

Did you check out my preschool blog post? We're going with Montessori after checking out JCC, academic preschools and faith based. It was worth the extra expense to us.

I went to a preschool at a church, and I'm Jewish. My mom said I cried throughout the temple preschool and they didn't let me take just a half day which is what she wanted for me. She loved the preschool I ended up at though because they encouraged part time students and felt that it was good for kids to spend lots of time with their parents during the day. They also were all about learning by play, which is what she liked.

We're going take LO to the Temple program, they've changed a lot since I went there and it's important to me that she's in a Jewish environment and meets other Jewish kids (even though lots of non Jews also go there). We have the option of going part time, so we'll start LO out going a couple of mornings a week, which is $333 since we're members there. If we wanted the full day 5 days a week, it would be $710.

LO is only 10 weeks old, we have a ways to go until preschool time. But all the Bento posts got me excited for when he's old enough haha!
I started looking into preschools in our area. There are a few really nice Montessori schools that i would love for him to have the option to go to, but they are almost twice the price of the local Catholic and Lutheran preschools. We're neither Catholic OR Lutheran lol
Did you send your LO to a "religious" daycare that wasn't your affiliation? How did you decide on a daycare? Money, program, etc.

I think it will depend where we are in three years. If I'm working, we'll be able to afford the Montessori preschool I love.

How much are the preschools in your area? For the Montessori school is about $370/mo, M-F 8:30-11:30. And for the lutheran preschool it's a little over $250 for 5 day, but only $125-$160 for 2-3 day program. The Montessori doesn't even seem to have the option for a 2-3 day program, which seems like a really busy week for a three year old!
