I liked High Five more than LO so we discontinued after a year. Thinking about Ladybug.

DS got a subscription to Chirp for his 3rd birthday in April. We've only gotten one issue so far but he seemed to like it. We have a free subscription to highlights and he could not care less about that one, though.

@T-Mom: thanks so much! I think I might go for that one...he loves to read and I feel like the parents would appreciate it more if they need to sit with him to go through it anyway :)

@hilsy85: Hm, I think you can't really go wrong with either... I'm sure either one would be appreciated ... I was always really hoping my DD would enjoy ladybug faster.. Lots of cute poetry and nice illustrations... Less "commercial" looking and more artistic. But she really didn't get into it for a while!

@T-Mom: hm interesting... I am torn between those two! The child/family is very "highbrow" if you know what I mean, so I feel like they might appreciate the better writing of ladybug...but high five seems like it has more activities vs stories.

My DD received ladybug and high 5 for several years starting around that age.. She preferred high 5 when she was younger because of the games, but ladybug actually had more interesting writing, so it was better when she could read for herself. She never seemed thet engaged when we read it to her for some reason.

@hilsy85: High five is monthly and has nicely illustrated stories, activities (look and find, etc) but doesn't hold her attention long at all. NGK is bright photos of animals, activities and tear out cards but comes bimonthly. However she really loves it and it catches her attention. High five is definitely nice though, which is why I'm saving them all - im saving the NGK too

Thinking about getting one of LO's friends a subscription to Ladybug or Chirp magazine for his birthday. Anyone else have experience with them? Are they good for a 3 year old?
