Yeah, I don't really ever take anything because I feel like I am sensitive to all pills -- the only thing I used to take once in a while was Advil for a headache or cramps.... i took a couple tylenol yesterday but they don't help with the inflammation, so the motrin does help with that - maybe I'll just continue cutting them in half & taking it twice a day until the soreness is gone... and yeah, i remember taking the motrin out of the hospital & BFing, but i'd rather my LO not get any of this -- it passes into the breastmilk right?? or no?

It may be too strong for you. I didn't react to it post-birth, but I was told it may make baby sleepier.

I took 800mg prescription motrin in the hospital and BF without any problems. When I went to fill the prescription upon discharge the pharmacist said it is the same as taking 4 non-prescrip motrin at the same time (I think she said this in case buying OTC was cheaper). Perhaps the dose is just too much for you, do you usually have a problem with motrin/advil?

They gave me Motrin after birth and said it was safe. I remember feeling a little off too, but didn't question it.

@hellobeeboston: if they are making YOU loopy I personally wouldn't BF or pump.

I know I took motrin after birth and breastfed. unfortunately, I think the meds need to be completely out of your system if they aren't BFing safe (this can be over 24 hours).

Could you also look at normal strength motrin and maybe just take 200-400mg?

Yesterday I strained my neck really bad & was having muscle spasms - went to the doc, they gave me a muscle relaxer called Baclofen which according the KellyMom is AAP approved and an L2 lactation drug.

I just took one yesterday at 6pm, and didn't nurse him until 6:30 this morning since I wasn't 100% sure of the time it would wear off...

But - I was also given Motrin (800mg) which the doc said was safe while breastfeeding, but here's my question. It makes me feel kinda loopy (same thing when I got motrin when released from the hospital after delivering so i stopped taking it after a couple of days).... So WHEN is it safe to pump or nurse?

I cut one 800mg tablet in half this morning & took it at 8:30, it's 11:30 and it makes me feel a little dizzy. SO - if I pump, is the milk OK to give him? From what I've read online it is, but I would just like all of your opinions.

THANKS
