I have a coworker who uses her to make flan. She says that it takes 15 minutes from start to finish, plus cooling time in the fridge. She adores hers.

@mrs. bird: thanks so much for the link...I was looking at the same thing but cuisinart...so good to know I was in the right direction. I love that it can cook rice. I too have a small kitchen (part of the reason I have been laboring over buying something I dont know how to use really) but I think I could justify this....

@Mrs D: this is the one i have, it's by fagor. we have a small kitchen, so i don't have space for a million different small appliances, so this takes the place of a pressure cooker, a rice cooker and a slow cooker. it does have a non stick coating on the inside, so it's super easy to clean, but a lot of ppl aren't comfortable with nonstick anymore. i'm ok with it because, at least from what i've read, the nonstick chemicals that you want to avoid come out when cooking at high heat and when the surface is worn, and since it's not used at crazy temps or something where you'd be stirring in it & wearing the surface, i'm comfortable with it even though i don't use other nonstick pots & pans. and being able to make decent dinners in 10 minutes with this and my cuisinart griddler is AMAZING = )

@mrs. bird: Ohhh...so can an electric pressure cooker take the place of a rice cooker? I have been eyeing one of those for a while and if its a two in one that would be even better!

@sloaneandpuffy: thanks for the link I'll check this out!

So far two rave reviews...any one else out there have an opinion on them?

I have a pressure cooker/slow cooker/rice cooker and it's seasons! I can make rice in 6 minutes, amazing! And chili or other recipes that take awhile to cook but you don't wanna worry about minding them on the stove. My mom had a stove top one (mine is electric) and she used to make pot roast & veggies in hers all the time.

Have the cuisinart electric pressure cooker - LOVE IT. If you get one, this is the one to get. It is great for making soups, stews, sauces, chilis, beefs, beans, rice. I used to be more creative with it, but haven't as much post baby. Example? Takes 20 minutes to make homemade pasta sauce (don't even have to pre-sautee onions) and takes 45 minutes to make beans (don't have to soak overnight!) Made cornbeef and cabbage in it and took no time, same with beef stew, and tons and tons of soups.

Don't get the type that goes on the stove - electric is the way to go.

I want to know too! I recently "won" one from my bank LOL and I have no idea how to use it. I hear it's good for beans. That's all so far. There was a blog post a few weeks ago that mentioned them though... One of the paleo guest posts.

So...I have been curious about pressure cookers for a while and recently two recipes I have wanted to make call for one. I'm not a total novice in the kitchen but also far from a pro...I am wondering what others thoughts on these are? Do you use one? Do you love it like I hear so many people do? What do you make most frequently in it?

Thanks!
