@BakerBee: thanks so much for responding. I'm taking the generic of procatida twice a day but my dr only wants me on it for a week. She said she didn't want me masking contractions for too long. She also said she wants to get me to at least 37 weeks so that seems to be the goal. I see her again Wednesday and every week until LO arrives now.

Ugh - I wrote an answer and it cleared it... take 2:

Has anyone had any preterm contractions?
Yes, I did! At 27 weeks. No dilating, but was bleeding too.

How long until you started full labor?
I haven't gone into full labor yet - still sitting tight at 32 weeks, so I've lasted an additional 5 weeks without any other scares.

How much did you slow down your daily life?
I slowed down considerably in the beginning. They don't know what caused the bleeding or the contractions, so I was honestly scared to live life. I've pretty much gone back to normal life these days, but try to stay VERY hydrated and rest a lot. I know this is a lot easier without a LO.

I was given Procardia to stop my contractions. That worked like a charm for me - mine is/was taken every 6 hours, so I'm not sure if this is what you had?

So glad you are okay - keep resting and cooking that baby!! While I'm anxious to find out what you are having, I'll gladly wait 5+ more weeks.

I actually had a pretty crummy weekend on the pregnancy end. On Friday after breakfast I felt really sick like I was coming down with food poisoning. I was on and off the toilet all day and I was getting worse as the day went on. I was having stomach cramps on and off all day and originally I thought it was because my tummy was upset. After a lot of debating DH and I decided it was time to go to the hospital.

Once they got me hooked up to the monitors at the hospital everyone was surprised to see I was having contractions every 2-3 min and they were lasting 45 seconds - 1 minute. And I was 2 cm dilated. Eek!! At that moment DH and I both thought our baby was coming at only 32w3d.

I was hooked up to an IV, had lots of swabs ran and a few urine tests. They also gave me this pill every 20 min for an hour and 20 min to slow the contractions. Oh, they also gave us 2 steroid shots over 24 hours. They admitted me overnight to make sure the contractions were not causing more dilation. I was checked 12 hours later and was still at a 2 cm so they decided I was not in preterm labor but having preterm contractions.

I was released after 24 hours and now relaxing at home. My dr said I was not on bed rest but i was limited to light activity. Luckily, I have a great family that has been taking DS (20 months) for a few hours each day.

Any other info would be great. Thanks in advance.
