@spaniellove: they say to give it on an empty stomach, but I hardly do because she's either just eaten or is sleeping. It still seems to work even w/ food

@Mrs Green Grass: @BabyBoecksMom: Did that interfere with the directions saying that they had to have it on an empty stomach?

We used to have the capsule w/ the beads, and we would mix it w/ some breastmilk in a syringe and gave her a little at a time (took up to 10 min to get it all down sometimes. We switched to the dissolvable tabs because it was easier for us to give it - I break it into 4 pieces and give her each piece about a min apart so she swallows all of it.

@spaniellove: we always put it in a bottle with just half an ounce, then had the regular bottle.

@MrsTiz: We're giving it a tiny bit at a time like you said!

Ped finally called and said that as a last resort we could put the Prilosec in formula but he's worried since J is taking so little of what's in his bottles and might not get the whole dose. So if he's not seeing an improvement by Monday he'll send us to a specialist.

We had suspension and added it to milk. It was not flavored.

Jack takes it with a syringe.. Started at maybe 4 months and we are now trying to ween him off of it, so every other day now.

Are you giving the whole syringe at once? In the beginning I had to let it set out for a bit and not be so cold, then give him a little bit at a time..even if it took 6 squirts just to get it in him. Once he got used to it he took it all in one squirt and as of this month he's decided he likes to spit it all out so we're back to giving him a a squirt, letting him swallow and then giving him another one or two to get it all in.

His smells sort of grape-y, but tastes like butt. Luckily that means he takes any tylenol no problem because it's sweet!

@Ms.Badger: I think they added a strawberry flavor to the Prilosec? Not sure he's a fan although he does like the grape Tylenol. He definitely doesn't like the taste of Zantac though he learned to tolerate that and didn't so much as make a face taking it.

We had little beads that we dissolved in water. We used http://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Bottle-Medicine-Dispenser/dp/B0056S88AK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408123920&sr=8-1&keywords=medicine+bottle to get him to drink it. Typically we would dose him in the middle of his nap (in the swing) and then when he woke up he could eat.

@spaniellove: Have you tasted both medicines? Some of those medicines taste really bad. With Lucas we had to try a few different kinds (brand name, different flavors etc) to find one he would tolerate. If it is a taste thing there are compounding pharmacies that can add different flavors for some meds.

Was it a thick suspension that you drew up into a syringe? Or did you use solutabs?

We were prescribed the suspension and although the syringe of Zantac was no problem, he is not accepting the Prilosec at all and spitting all of it out even though it's the same delivery method. I'm starting to think (given the feeding issues we're having now) he might have an oral aversion from 7 weeks of meds and all the medical procedures he's been through.
