Mostly bc my girls will actually wear them, unlike heavier coats that are stiffer and harder for them to run around. I think I might go ahead and order one! It’s mostly just for walking into preschool :) We live in (snowy, really friggin cold) MT so we have several heavier weight jackets for winter play! (And if anyone needs an affordable heavy jacket, we love the Snozu ones from Costco every fall! They are like $20 and include a hat. It’s not a heavy winter coat-we use it in California when it’s in the 50s. We’ve used it in drizzle and it’s been fine. No complaints. I’m squeamish about puffy in the car seat so I don’t use it that way, but it’s not super thick. It’s also not waterproof, so doesn’t work as well in snow which was disappointing for us because it’s very snowy here. DD got a wet butt the few times we used it for snow play. A jacket would probably be ok, her clothes have never gotten wet above the waist, but could if your kiddo like to roll around in the snow.
