Ugh that is annoying! I found that when they rolled out the Add on program, tons of stuff that used to ship for free now had to qualify for the $25 minimum!

I am frustrated by it too. The only thing I could see that makes it sort of ok is that there were some things I had searched for that weren't available previously and then became available when they launched the Pantry section. I took it to mean they were offering smaller packages of things as well as other heavy items that weren't available before but that might not be the case. Either way I don't love it.

Sounds weird to me! Amazon also owns Soap.com which has household stuff at better prices usually. Still have to meet a minimum for free shipping though.

I'm starting to have a love-hate relationship with Amazon. It used to be pure love, but things are getting complicated. Now there's Amazon Prime, Amazon student, Amazon mom, Prime Pantry....what else am I missing?

@jetsa: i could see that for some things, like i know it must be expensive for them to ship my super heavy things of cat litter, but these were tampons... how much can tampons weigh?!? not much, certainly no more than the lotions or hair products in my order that ship free.

Nope, I'm not a fan either. Its supposed to increase selection for heavier items I think but no, I'll just buy it at the store.

do you use this? i don't like it! i pay for prime so i don't have to pay shipping and having to pay $5.99 to ship the box seems redundant (i already paid all my shipping for amazon for the year with my membership!). i know they were losing money on a lot of items, but i just tried to add something to my subscribe & save to ship tomorrow and they want to make me pay $5.99 shipping to have a 'prime pantry' box shipped or i can order it from a different seller & pay more than the amazon price.

has anyone found this prime pantry to be useful? am i missing something??
