I ended up with Strep B during my pregnancy right after getting diagnosed with bv and a yeast infection. I drank kefir every other day until I delivered. I wished I would have kept drinking it pp because was colicky. The probiotics could have helped.

My stomach always needs a day or two to adjust to probiotics, then it's fine.

You shouldn't feel them working, you should just feel better in general.

I have awful symptoms (stomach cramps, bubbling, bloating) after taking some brands. I mentioned it to my ND and she said it was probably due to the sugar (FOS) put in some of them to keep the probiotics alive. I found out more recently that I have trouble digesting fructose, so this is definitely an issue.

So check for FOS as an ingredient, and if its in there, stop taking them! You should be able to find an alternative at a natural remedy store (you do have a few in Portlandia, right? ;) )

So, my midwives suggested I take Femdophilus to help keep Strep B away during pregnancy. I really try to remember to take it every day, but let's be real, I forget A LOT. Today, I took one for the first time in 2 weeks, and my stomach is rocked. I feel like I ate an entire Thanksgiving meal. I just feel so full & uncomfortable.

For any of you who do probiotic supplements, have you experienced this? Is there a curve where you stop noticing them (like maybe after taking them for several days in a row)?
