Yes, I think this happened with my newborn!

It's definitely possible although at this point I wouldn't say that's for sure what it is. From what I know experimenting with some pretty strong probiotics (I had GI issues due to an infection) it's possible, though diarrhea seems more common. Sometimes the body takes time to adjust.

no the probiotics usually regulate LO as well. what about milk intake? too much milk can cause constipation as well so i'd up the water for a bit. or i'd try prunes/raisins. that usually helps my LO!

Oops, sorry, that wasn't the question, was it? No. I haven't heard of probiotics causing this and doubt that is it if you are using the same ones and never had a problem before.

Is liquid intake and activity level the same too? I might spend a week pushing prune juice, etc to get things back to normal.

I haven't had this. Probiotics always regulate her whether too loose or too hard.

About a month ago, D got bronchitis and was started on antibiotics. Antibiotics always mess with his gut, so I started giving him Culturelle probiotics (the chewables) at the same time. While he was on the abx, he got probiotics 2x a day, but we dropped to 1x a day when the abx stopped. He was off them for a couple of days for his surgery, but started right back on them 2 days after surgery. Well, since surgery (which was 3.5 weeks ago), he's been having issues with constipation - to the point where the other night he was crying in the tub that his bottom hurt then woke up the next morning with a MASSIVE hard poop in his diaper. He's cried a few other times that his belly hurts, and then hours later has tiny little hard rabbit turds in his diaper.

I know that anesthesia can cause constipation, so for the first week or so I chalked up to that, but that can't still be affecting him now. His diet is pretty much the same as before surgery. The only other difference is he's on 1/2 baby aspirin a day.

Has anyone else's kiddo ever had the opposite effect from probiotics?
