I'm afraid someone might miss the note on your door unintentionally. Maybe you could tape the sign so it hangs over the doorknob.

I used to lock the door and put up a fabric over the door's window. The rest is like the pp except I make sure I have a tissue box out.

I put a note on the door (no lock) that says DO NOT ENTER. I have a hands free pumping bra (love) that I keep in my pump bag. After I pump I put the parts in a ziploc back in the bag (I do not wash between sessions) and the milk in a cooler bag that came with my pump that just looks like an insulated lunch bag. That goes in the fridge. And repeat :)

I pump at work in an office i share with a coworker. She is very supportive of my pumping in the office but i wear a nursing cover anyway so she can come and go if need be. I have a hands free pumping bra so i work at my desk while i pump. I have a sign that i put out that says "pumping in progress please knock". That way people know why the door is closed and can act accordingly.

As far as storage, my pump included a cooler bag and ice pack so i store the milk in it in the fridge that we use for our lunches. You cant tell what is in it and no one has complained. It is going well so far.

I got walked in on recently when my office door was closed. It was the first time someone had ever barged in without knocking. Thankfully I was able to throw down my shirt and be halfway decent, but I was SO FLUSTERED. I would put a sign out or request a lock.

Can you request a locked door knob?

At my work there is now a lock on the "conference room" in front of the receptionist. There are big tall windows that have blackout curtains now. It was recently installed when my co-worker gave birth a couple months ago.
There is also a mini fridge with a lock on it just for breast milk storage as well.
I was under the impression that by law your employer has to provide you with a "space/room" that's not a bathroom for pumping? Or does a private office qualify?

Do you feel comfortable talking to your boss about it? Can you lock the door?

I'll be pumping at work, in my office. Lucky though, when my office door is closed, no one comes in without knocking first. Can you put a little note on your door requesting people knock before entering, or saying "privacy please"? That sucks that your boss doesn't respect your privacy when your door is closed!

My boss (who is male) will sometimes come into my office unannounced, even when the door is closed, and I sometimes think, where will I go for privacy if I choose to pump at work?? And, where will I store the pumped milk?

Is there anyone on here that pumps at work? And if so, would you be willing to share a little bit about your experience and "protocol"? Do you have a special area or just use your office? Do you put a sign on the door to ensure privacy? What do you do with the pumped milk?
