@Claire.peonies: yes I'm going to see what she says and if she suggests another one (she did put a note on my test result saying please redo if not done on day 21) I will tell her I know when I O and can I schedule one for then.
I wonder what the next step for you will be too, though FC it turns out to be a BFP! Lovely if you could keep me updated. To be honest though my reason for going to her was because I think my lining is too thin, only been trying 4 months so I've no reason to suspect anything else other than my ridiculously light period.

I am sorry that your doctor isn't listening to you! I think you should ask her to check a 7dpo based upon when you think you are ovulating - since your levels were "low" she can't say no!

I just got mine drawn on 5dpo (due to my awful work schedule) it came back as 10.6. I don't know what the next step will be now if this is an "ok" level and I'm still not pregnant!

I wish you luck!

@Snowdrop: They checked it during an ultrasound, not sure if there is any other way.

@Shutterbug: glad to here it was nice and easy to fix! Hopefully it could mean that I have nice high levels then. Yeah luckily everything is free so she can send me for as many tests as she likes! Though I will try and steer her towards finding out about my lining...
@mrs.someone: did you have any tests to find out your lining was ok?

@Snowdrop: yes, they put me on Endometrin (progesterone suppositories) after O and it increased my LP from 9 days to 15.

I think that a person's progesterone level is low (under 1-2 maybe) before you O, then once you O it shoots up pretty quickly, so the 4 you got could just mean that you were in the middle of your post-O progesterone increase. I know my dr said they are looking for 10+ to confirm O, and if you were at 4 on O day I'd bet you were higher on 7dpo. But hey, if a low result gets you referred to someone else faster then so be it, right? :)

Thanks girls. I couldn't be bothered pushing the 'but it's not 7dpo' thing to my doc because I live in England and there seems to be a few general (cheap) tests GPs will do before referring you on so I kind of see it as jumping through hoops for a while. I only bleed for just over 24 hrs with light spotting either side but have a 11/12 day luteal phase. So you literally can't read into levels on day of O?
@shutterbug: Have they managed to help with your short lp?

Not O day, but I get my progesterone checked when I'm being monitored for IUIs and it's always been about 0.4 two days before O. Last month is was 0.88 the day before O. My 7dpo progesterone test was 3.1 and my gyn said it meant I didn't ovulate, but I was charting and knew that I did. Later, once I was with an RE, he said I for sure ovulated, and that my level was so low because I have a short luteal phase (9-ish days) and the test was taken two days before I got AF.

In my experience, some doctors don't subscribe to the idea that not everyone ovulates on CD14. It's so frustrating.

Get a new doctor! The progesterone test should be on 7dpo (as you know). A level of 4 on O day doesn't mean much of anything...

ETA: Length of period doesn't necessarily mean you have low progesterone, it is more likely to be a lining issue. Mine is only 3 days, but is super heavy at the beginning and my lining is fine (and my P is borderline). A short LP is what indicates low P.

My doc sent me for a 21 day progesterone this month when I mentioned how short my periods were. Any way it turned out I O'd late this month but she still insisted on day 21 so...
I'm pretty sure I did ovulate on the actual day of the test (opk, cm, o pains and bbt) and my levels came back at 4! obviously because she didn't listen to me, my doc thinks this is really low but was wondering if anyone had any experience of levels on O day?
