@winniebee: I started these about 4 weeks ago. I had my DD#1 at 34w5d (water broke) and I will take the shots until 36 weeks with this pregnancy. I'm currently 23 weeks & 4 days. They don't hurt. I was all freaked out, but I haven't had any pain and no crazy side effects. I'm hoping they can prevent pre term labor! So far, so good!

@kodybear: thanks! he is a toy poodle and I don't know what I'd do without him to talk to and cuddle with while on bed rest :) my drs recommended I stop working all together and I was able to get paid disability thru August so that's what I'm doing now. good luck to you and message me anytime!

@littleredhairedgrl: oh i know, the warm weather won't help! are you able to work at home or are you on leave? btw, your dog is super cute! looks like a hybrid of my two dogs (terrier mix and poodle mix!) :-)

@winniebee: no its weird, the first pregnancy went so smoothly. i wonder though if i did have a short cervix the first time around but they didnt' catch it. like she felt low the whole time, but i only had u/s at 18wks and then a growth scan at 35 wks the first time around. this time around, they caught it when i went in for a second anatomy scan at 21 weeks. so if i didn't have that second scan, i wouldn't have known! i feel the same as the first time around, no other symptoms. so i dunno! but yeah its hard with a toddler :-( esp since i wah 2 days a week and basically watch her myself. 6 more weeks till dh is done with the school year so then i'll have more help! :-/ are they going to do anything diff this pregnancy for you besides the progesterone? just monitor you more closely i presume? i've heard and read alot of good things about progesterone, hope it helps us!

@kodybear: sounds so tough! Were you on bed rest or did u have issues with your first? I'm so worried about going through that whole ordeal now having a toddler!

@kodybear: gosh I can't imagine going thru it with a little one.. I'm mostly lying down but I'll sit up for meals and things like that. my ob is the one who recommended bed rest after I had my cerclage put in at 17 weeks, but our mfms have said it wasn't necessary, tho I just wanted to be extra careful. so frustrating to get such different opinions! it def is hard tho and the nicer weather doesn't help!

@littleredhairedgrl: so at the hospital i've been going to, the perinatologist switches every week, so it seems like every dr has a different opinion. the first week the dr told me to go on modified bedrest, basically no lifting heavy things, rest as much as i can, etc. then the second week another dr said i didn't need to be on bedrest, just take it easy. this 3rd dr didn't mention bedrest, just said not to exercise. my work is all on the computer too so i do basically sit most of the day. its just hard when i'm watching lo#1 who is 17 months! i'm trying not to lift her as much and to sit and play with her more. bed rest is hard tho! but i'm going to try alot harder now that the measurements are actually getting shorter. are you laying down for your bedrest or is just sitting up okay?

@littleredhairedgrl: haha not looking forward to the grossness. but i'm glad its helping you! how often are you getting checked?

@winniebee: i'm going to be 24 weeks this weekend. around 21.5 weeks i was measuring 2.3-2.8cm, 22.5 weeks it was about the same, this past week it was 1.9-2.2cm :-( the perinatologist thinks its closer to 2.2cm because of where the u/s tech was measuring, but it still looks to be getting shorter. so i'm alittle borderline for starting progesterone but i think (and hope) if anything it'll help it stabilize above 2.

I haven't, but a friend did with her second pregnancy. With her first, labor started (and couldn't be stopped) at 31 weeks for no apparent reason. When she got pregnant the second time, she did the shots and didn't deliver until 36/37 weeks. And the second pregnancy was twins, so the risk of preterm labor was even higher without her prior history.

@kodybear: for me it kept it stable, never really increased the length, but I've been at around 1.5 cm for almost a month and a half now (with bed rest too). the fact that I'm inserting them so close to the cervix makes me believe it's working too bc I know it's so close to the area that needs help. def could do without the nastiness that comes along with suppositories tho!

@littleredhairedgrl: do you know the change in length since starting suppositories? like does it increase the length or just keep it stable?

I've been taking progesterone suppositories for short cervix since 15 weeks now (28 weeks today) and shots were never mentioned to us but I do believe that the suppositories have helped me get this far. good luck to you!

If you received them, when did you start receiving them? Did you already have a shortened cervix? Did they help?

I haven't met with the perinatologist yet, but progesterone shots have been discussed as a possibility for this pregnancy because of preterm labor/ shortened cervix last pregnancy.
