I took progesterone during first trimester after 2 previous losses. No idea if it helped or just coincidence, but that was a successful pregnancy. I had one previous successful pregnancy without it though.

Following two miscarriages, my doctor recommended that I use Progesterone during the first trimester. Just because there was a chance it could help. I have since had two successful pregnancies and am 21 weeks with my third, all using Progesterone. It is definitely worth trying.

I was on it with my first. I got a positive on cd 28, my progesterone was 11 (need to be 10 to sustain a pregnancy), and my beta was 48. I was immediately put on it over the weekend, and my progesterone bumped up quickly. DD is 21 months. I'm on it this cycle to try to get pregnant as I have a luetal phase defect. I hope you pull through!

I took it for 10-12 weeks with both pregnancies. My numbers were a bit low in the beginning and doubled within a week of being on it.
Also I had to advocate for myself the second time b/c they didn't even want to see me til 8 weeks but I made them test me at 5 and was given the pills.

I've been on it for two pregnancies--my daughter and my current pregnancy (20 weeks). The doctor was clear that it would not make a nonviable pregnancy suddenly viable, but if it was a healthy embryo, it would help sustain the pregnancy until the placenta takes over with progesterone production around 12 weeks. So far so good!

I had very bad spotting with my daughter in the early weeks of pregnancy, so they tested me and discovered the progesterone deficiency. With this pregnancy, I asked to be tested as soon as I found out I was pregnant. It was low again, but because I started the supplements so early, I never had any significant spotting.

With my first pregnancy, my doctor tested my level and it was low, and she put me on progesterone. I wasn't seen again until the 8 week ultrasound, and at that point, the baby had passed away. If they're willing to follow you closely and do betas, I think your chances of preventing the inevitable go down. My MC was delayed significantly because I was taking progesterone for weeks after the baby had passed.

For my next pregnancy, I started taking it as soon as I got pregnant, and stayed on it through about 20 weeks. The doctors at the practice kept telling me it wasn't doing anything past 12 weeks, so eventually, I weaned myself off.

My daughter passed away around 22 weeks. I'll never know if it was possibly low progesterone (I have a history of it even outside of pregnancy) or some other random event.

So I'm a huge proponent of it. I know many women who wouldn't have their children without supplementation.

If the baby already isn't viable, it's not going to prolong it's life. But if all it needs is a little more help, it can provide that.

I've take it for both my successful pregnancies. I've also taken it on non-successful cycles. I did find it really helped me feel better about it, like I was giving the baby all the chance it needed to succeed.

progesterone helped me. I had a MC, and after my cycles were crazy short - like 22-23 days. Progesterone lengthened my leutal phase, and I got pregnant the second cycle I was on it :)

@knittylady: It could prolong it but if it is a viable pregnancy that just needs a little kick, it would be worth taking. Are they going to do betas to see what's going on?

Wasn't sure where to put this..

My doc just prescribed progesterone for me as my periods several days late and I have a light but there line. My worry is that it will prolong an inevitable loss..

What was your experience like with progesterone?
