That's a really interesting chart!

We wanted a baby born sometime in January - March to increase the chances of LO being a pro-hockey player (based on info from Malcolm Gladwell's book, Outliers). Haha.

There was some chart that looked up your date of conception based on your bday. I was.conceived on my mom's bday and my brother was cpnceived on Christmas. Yucko to learn your parents had special occasipn sex.

I tried to plan around my work schedule, so that having a baby would somehow coincide with summer, to make my Mat leave longer.

So I would have been happy delivering in April, May, June, July, or early August--any of those times would have also included summer break (when I get paid anyway) + my 12 weeks of FMLA on working days, for an overall extended Mat leave.

It worked--I'm due in July, three weeks after summer vacation starts. YAY.

hahaha so funny that one of my old post resurfaced... My due date is 10/9 which is working out perfectly. I'll be 6 months pregnant for my cousins wedding (i'm MoH) I'll be able to attend my coworkers wedding in late august. I should be done the bulk of my busiest period at work and I should be able to take the rest of 2013 off and come back to work after the new year.

Yes, totally. I am much happier person in the spring/summer. I guess those Caribbean roots made me that way. :) There were some things professionally and personally that we wanted to do in early 2012, which stopped us from starting then. Also DH was born within days of Christmas and does not enjoy that, so we did avoid December. We were very lucky that everything worked out as we "planned."

I wanted a summer baby so bad since I'm a teacher...but we ended up just shy...DD around 8/31. In the district I work in you have to use any days you've saved up for your maternity leave...having a baby in summer would have been awesome, but someone had other plans for us!

The only month we were going to try to avoid was December. My friend is a Christmas baby and she said she hated it growing up. So I was going to skip what would have been our cycle 4, but we ended up with a BFP on our third! We're due on 11/18, so our LO will likely be a Thanksgiving baby this year! :)

@AutumnLove: DH were just so happy to be able to conceive that I wasn't shooting for any date/month in particular. But, when I found out I am due the first week in September, my first thought was, "I just missed the September 1 cut off!" I could go a little early though, we'll just have to wait and see. :)

Of course I'd be happy for it to happen whenever, but I'm hoping it'll work out for a due date not to be anytime during or just before winter. The way the light is during the winter gives me a touch of SAD, and I don't want to be hugely pregnant/with a newborn during that time.

We ideally wanted a late spring/early summer baby because my husband is off from work all summer. I wanted to avoid a winter late pregnancy/delivery because we live in Maine where there’s typically a lot of ice and snow (not so much this year).

We got lucky and LO is due June 6th – the last day my husband works before summer break!

We didn't plan, but the timing worked out well. The baby is due in the beginning of December, which is between holidays but not in the worst winter months. And I won't be hugely pregnant during the hot summer months.

It will be nice to cozy down and hibernate with the baby while we get used to things!

We did not plan at all. It took a long time for my cycles to regulate after bcp and then my step-dad got sick so timing the due date was the last thing on our minds. I'm due mid-September and probably could not have planned worse timing! I will be hugely pregnant during the summer and then will have to return to work for the busiest time of the year. But really it doesn't matter to me at all because all I care about is a healthy baby.

We didn't plan for a specific month, but I'm secretly hoping it happens sooner rather than later because being in my third trimester during the Florida summer sounds horrendous. We did have to wait until I would be due after January 1, because my short-term disability won't pay out maternity benefits until then.

We didn't plan. I feel like there's no perfect time to be huge and pregnant, and you really can';t plan much anyway. Next time we will plan around our LO's birthday though... we don't want their birthday months to be the same just so it's easier with the parties and such.

Our ideal time would be to get pregnant in January 2013 so that we have the baby in September-ish. That would mean I am only 6 months prego for my brother's wedding in Hawaii (I should still be able to travel at 6 months, right?) and will have been practicing law for 5 years (don't want to have a baby too soon, and 5 years seems like a nice round number). And, we want our kid to have an early in the academic year birthday so that they're slightly older in his/her class. I would also prefer to be most pregnant when I can wear loose-fitting summer clothing.

But, when it's all said and done, I would be happy with any time of year... it would be awesome to take maternity leave during the summer when it's nicest here in Seattle... or during the end-of-year holidays.

whoa, interesting! I'm due Sept 25, and that chart indicates that as one of the most popular due dates!

we started in October and conceived January on cycle #3, so we didn't really aim for anything specific! I'm kind of excited that I managed to avoid having to purchase winter maternity clothes, though.
