I think 7:30 is a little on the late side. I'd think they'd keep it between 9-5 or 6. I would politely say something.

Since LO is sleeping through it, I wouldn't bother!

Chances are if you can hear them hammering, they can probably hear your baby crying sometimes. If they are generally quiet, I'd just let it slide. If someone came over and asked me when i was going to stop repairing my own wall, I'd be incredibly annoyed....it comes with the territory in a condo or apartment. Sounds like they're sticking to reasonable day hours.

Sometimes my neighbor mows the lawn at 6am and it wakes me up during the summer, but there's not much I can do about it.

We waited it out. Hubby was going to knock at 8:45, since that's a bit later, but they stopped! So no biggie!

If it were like 9pm then yeah...but it's 7:30 and this is life..people will do handy work! Good thing she's sleeping through it:)

I wouldn't say anything. Yes, it sucks but they are doing reasonable things (home repair) during reasonable hours. There's no way you can ask them to accommodate your sleeping child.

@Mrs.M57 if they've been nice in the past I'd be more likely to bring it up, I'm sure they don't realize how loud it is. I've only had irritable neighbors who were more likely to ignore requests the more that were made!

I wouldn't say anything; especially if he doesn't do loud stuff that often. My LO isn't a great day sleeper at all; but I'm not that protective about her sleep.

@scg00387: they've been doing it often lately. Working on something big I'm guessing? A lot of times during the day she notices it when I'm putting her down for a nap but eventually sleeps. I never feel as annoyed during the day, I guess we are just annoyed that it has literally been alll day and now into bedtime. I hate confrontation though, they are generally very nice neighbors!

If it isn't waking her, I wouldn't unless it becomes a regular thing that is bothering you too. You have to figure they will be doing something else that is bothering her at some point, and would probably be more receptive to quieting down if it's the first confrontation. That stinks though!

@Mrs.M57: I wouldn't. I think this is just one of those things that you have to accept when you live in a condo. I especially wouldn't say anything at this point since your baby is sleeping through it anyway. If the baby wakes up crying I'm sure your neighbor will hear it and hopefully quiet down. Otherwise I would only say something if the loud noise continued after it was later (maybe 10pm?)

I would politely ask - it is understandable that the noise would bother anyone! And yes, I'm very protective of LO's sleep.

Anyone else super overprotective/anxious over their baby's sleep? My dd has always struggled with sleep so dh and I are very protective of it, super quie and respectful of her naps and nighttime sleep. We live in a condo and our neighbor has been doing some kind of handy work that involves banging on the walls all day since 9ish this morning(it's now almost 7:30pm). DD has been asleep for about half an hour now, but the banging around continues. It's not phasing her, but hubby and I are so anxious and annoyed by it after all we do share walls, that we've debated going over to ask when they will be finished. Would you say anything?
