We also potty trained over Labor Day weekend. This is still an ongoing battle with LO. We've resorted to bribes (Hershey's kisses, which he usually forgets about in the process of peeing and washing hands, so he only actually eats maybe 2 per day). We've also given him choices, big potty or his little Elmo potty chair. We will also give him the option of peeing first or Mommy pees first. </p> <p>I'm convinced it's a power struggle thing because at school and in public, same as your LO (at least right now, I feel like things change with potty training all the time!) so we just do what we can to minimize the power struggle. Everything went pretty well and she hasn't worn a diaper since then (she still wears pull-ups overnight but that's it). Lately getting her to go to the bathroom at home has been a major struggle. She doesn't have accidents and she does eventually go, but when I mention going to the potty she gets really upset saying she doesn't have to go (when I know she does). </p> <p>She is the complete opposite at daycare and out in public. I dropped her off last week and her teacher told her to try to go potty before she ate breakfast and she walked to the bathroom, pulled her pants down and went, then pulled them back up all on her own. I was floored. She also doesn't protest in public. What's the deal?? Is it just a toddler power struggle and she wants to have control? We basically have to carry her to the bathroom at home, pull her pants down, pick her up and put her on the toilet (when obviously she can do these things on her own because I've seen her do them at daycare). </p> <p>I think she doesn't want to stop playing at home to go. We've watched the Daniel Tiger episode about this and she even knows the song, but she still protests 90% of the time. Anyone else go through this? </p>
