oh that's so sweet! Also about hugs--last week during drop off, before I left, another girl was really upset after her dad left and was crying while a teacher comforted her. Lo stopped playing and looked concerned, and said "Zanna misses dada" (the girl's name is Suzanna ;) ), and then went over and gave her a hug. My heart totally melted!

@regberadaisy: That's so sweet! As the mom of a non-hugger I thank you for teaching your DD to ask before hugging. My DD does not like hugs from her friends. :)

We just got back from LO's first international trip. He's almost two and did awesome with all the new experiences including long plane rides. DH and I were so proud. And it made me happy that he was so good on the plane ride home considering the old man in front of us was very loud about how unhappy he was having to sit near a baby! :silly:

@regberadaisy: that is so sweet all around! My DD is a big hugger and we are working on asking friends if they want a hug before hugging them. (My best friend's son doesn't like hugs so it's an important lesson). But we are still working on empathy.

I'm too tired for any proud moments. My toddler is very sweet to the baby so that's good enough at the moment.

Oh my gosh. I'm sleep deprived and been having a bad week but your story made me tear up. You must be so proud of them both!!!

DD has tubes and a crazy ear infection that required antibiotic shots, all this coming off suspected RSV that's going around. I'm just so proud of her for being so tough and a trooper. She didn't even flinch when the Dr looked in her ears, which is normally a major deal.

Just had to share this very proud parent moment. :)

So, we're a very huggy family and DD1 LOVES giving hugs. But we explained to her that not everyone wants a hug, all the time. So before she gives friends and teachers a hug, she has to ask first. She's been really good about asking "you want a hug?" before giving one. And a lot of times her friends will say no. It makes her sad but she accepts it and moves on.
This morning at drop off she saw a teacher in the hallway and asked if the teacher wanted a hug. She did, so DD1 gave her a hug. Another little girl was waiting with the teacher for her school bus (before care) and wanted to give DD1 a hug. DD said "no, thank you". The little girl's face immediately went sad! :( DH didn't want to push it but just asked DD "you're sure you don't want to give her a hug?" She said again "no, thank you". So DH left it at that and they went to DD's room. In the room DH explained to her that it's OK she didn't want to give the little girl a hug. But when we give hugs we spread a lot of joy. Don't you want to put a little joy in that little girl's heart? DD said "yes!". So she ran back out of her room and down the hallway to give the little girl a hug. The little girl's face immediately lit up! :)

I'm so proud of her! I'm proud of DH for not pushing the hug but also explaining how her actions made another person feel. Then DD decided on her own how to act.

Sorry that was so long!

What's a really proud parenting moment for you recently?
