But I know our monitor didn't connect to our WiFi at all because we have security on that and didn't need to do anything, so I think it's got it's own internal thing, not connected to the internet. So random people across the country wouldn't be able to hack it. So I'm ASSUMING you'd have to be within it's range. I'm not too concerned about the security of it. My husband is quite the computer nerd. Everything in our house is SUPER secure, including the camera. All you need is an internet connection, physical distance has nothing to do with it.</p> <p>I think that people don't understand that when someone knows how to "hack", a password is not going to stop them. You are aware that someone could hack into your home computer, turn it into a drone computer and be able to use your applications, access your webcam, etc... all without you knowing? They could do this from the other side of the planet. There are programs people can run that will TELL them your password. They can find out your password, change it without you knowing, etc. It's not that hard. My BIL knows how to do it. He did it to my computer once to prove he could.</p> <p>I think it's a good lesson that you need to take precautions with technology. You CAN take steps to prevent this kind of stuff from happening, but you have to be aware that it's a possibility in order to do that. You can also password protect the log in to the camera, which we have. We have this monitor and just set it up. We only set it up to access if you are on our wireless network (which is protected).
